For the longest time, I was the biggest proponent of the Sonos platform. The style, the sound, the ease of use was all best in class. So much so, I had my entire house and outdoors wired in Sonos. And then, right at the start of the summer, all went south. The app issue really messed up a lot of people, me included. On days, I still struggle with connectivity, discoverability, and playability. This problem still exists, and I know they are working on it.

The brand now has the highest negative perception than it has ever had. It is valued at $1.7B. If they cannot get back to a steady state and make things right very quickly, this could spell more pain in the capital markets. I hope the company survives but it could go bankrupt or could be bought off. My concern now is what happens to our investment if that does happen.

But if this company continues, this is a good price !!!!
"Giving Tuesday". You keep using those words but I don't think they mean what you think they mean
I got Arc, Ones & Sub from last year's sale - so happy about it. Minimalistic setup with mesmerizing audio experience

They have a good product line. Now also have headphones. All they need to do is fix the app. Once that is done stock can go back to $17.5 or $20. *this is not an investment advice.

I have a Sonos Beam Gen1. Springing for a Gen2, I don't know why. I guess the Atmos got me. Oh, and the refurb deal. Gen1 going up on eBay.

Hope I notice a difference...
As to the difference between Gen1 and Gen2, Sonos offers a 30-day money back guarantee. So if I don't think the Gen2 makes a pronounced difference over the Gen1, I can return it, at their expense.

This. I have Sonos throughout the house and have been wanting to add a couple more. I cannot buy into the ecosystem further until they sort it out. And it's already been months…

The latest updates have started to resolve issues.
My issues were finally resolved.
They ARE working on the problem, thank God.

Check out their stock price, they took a beating because of that SHIT app they released in the summer. They alienated so many customers. The head of the software division and whoever else was in charge of the new app should have been fired.

This was a Harvard Business School example of what happens when you release a software application with practically no quality assurance testing on it. Clearly they thought they could get away with it (take the cheap route). Just boggles the mind sometimes.

So I'm upgrading from a bose colorlink and a Amazon echo. How capable are these when asking to play certain songs and artists? How is the sound via bluetooth? Thank you in advanced.
The only Sonos speakers that support Bluetooth are:

Arc Ultra.
Era 100.
Era 300.
Move 1&2.
Roam.
Roam 2.
Roam SL.

You control your Sonos speakers from the Sonos app or voice assistant typically. You link your music accounts (Apple Music, YT Music, Spotify, etc) through the Sonos app, pick a speaker or group you want to play on, and there you go.

It wasn't a testing issue. It was an arrogance issue. They had to completely rewrite the app on a different platform because the one they were using was over 10 years old and faced roadblocks with new devices. So what they thought they would do is release a stripped down app with features their stats said most typical people use, then slowly add to it.

The problem came about when the app was underpowered, buggy, and it turns out if you remove 30 features only 10% of users want, you have 30 groups of 10%ers yelling at you.

The October update solved most of the issues. The voice assistance performance is even improved (which is something!).

But it still wasn't properly tested before being released. Absolutely terrible management decision regardless how you slice it.

They got the message, just look at the stock price since the app was released LOL. I'd like to know if anyone got canned.

There have been a lot of new updates in the past couple months. The second to most recent app fixed my issue. I hope everyone's issues get resolved as well. Sadly we will never have the old app back.

They'll continue. They've fixed 90% of the app problems, their new products are winning awards left and right, and they're in a massive PR push right now with news stories of "execs aren't getting bonuses and salaries being cut until things are fixed" hardline corrective behavior. They'll probably be bigger than ever in 2025.
Come to my house and watch the app reset the TV volume to zero every time I change the volume via the app. Also, the app has to reload two to three times to "discover " my system. The old app did not have this problem.

The biggest problem is they did an all or nothing rollout. They literally had no failsafe built in to rollback to the prior version. They put themselves in the riskiest possible position one could imagine. This was a blunder you wouldn't expect from a company of this size.

Your statement kind of matters but it also doesn't because there still is no competition to Sonos. If I could return my entire system for a full refund and choose anything else out there, I would still choose Sonos with all their warts built into their stupid new app refresh. Bastards.

But I still love my Sonos.
