Definitely better than the bugout. I've cut 16.4 miles of cardboard so far with mine. It's only gotten sharper. Ok for real though, I've got it, and for for the price, there really is nothing better.
I'm a guy that carries a Benchmade in my pocket every day. But I'm by no means a knife snob. I flew to a different state for a week, picked up this knife from Walmart for ten bucks and was floored at the quality you get for the price. They have to lose money on these. It comes sharp, locks tight and did everything I asked of it. At the end of the trip I gave it to the guy we rented our van from and flew out.
Gotta pay $200 for a plastic folding knife so CEOs can pay for their Ferrari.

I've seen that happening for over a month for all Walmart knife posts. It's crazy. Dude must be literally nuts.

Picked one of these up. I don't doubt that it's one of the better knives you can get for $10, but for $5 more, I found this Kobalt knife at Lowes that I like a lot better.

Since the $5 one does not have full length liners, it can break more easily than the $10 one. The $5 one also has a softer steel that will probably be easier to sharpen but dull faster. Other than that you can't really go wrong with either if all you're doing is opening boxes or whatever. I'd caution against using the $5 one with too much force, as there are pictures that a guy posted on reddit of that one gashing his hand when it broke in half (admittedly bending the handle in a way that would probably break any knife without full liners).

Black and Green are in stock now. Says selling fast. Makes a great Christmas stocking stuffer. Thanks OP!
Edit: Thanks for the downvote...guess I got lucky and snagged 5 before you did. Lol!

It appears as if the orange color knife is in stock and can be added to the cart. However when going to check out the product is showing as "Currently unavailable". ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿคจ

Is this having the same smooth bearing and locking mechanism? I don't really care much about the durability of D2 as I don't even use these knives. shake head

So mine arrived today. Will say that for 10 it really can't be beat. I do have the benchmade bugout and for comparisons, this one is heavier than the bugout (probably due to the full lining). the scales are rougher and feel a bit cheaper. The knife opens faster than my bugout but doesn't close as smooth. So I will say that the bugout is slightly nicer, but definitely not 10X nicer. As others have said, I see myself using this one more as I won't be afraid to break it(BTW is does seem like it's sturdier than the bugout, which makes sense as the target audience is much more likely to actually use for more than just opening letters).

All in all very happy with this one. Thanks op!

I checked the link and the Kobalt is now also $10. It's great if you like it. I think the advantage to the OT knife is the D2 tool steel. If it was heat treated properly, it should hold an edge much longer than the unnamed stainless of the Kobalt. It will be harder to sharpen also. I have a Benchmade 710 in D2 that I love but stopped carrying for fear of losing. These OT knives will be Christmas presents, but I may keep one or two for myself. ๐Ÿ˜

They happened to have one at my local for pickup.... so i ordered it... I wonder who actually makes these???

Also walmart had some odd "we'll replace with a similar item if unavailable" option that was on by default... Ummm, no thanks on the substitutions Wally!

The page shows it as available only in orange. Once you add to the cart, it says: Sorry out of stock!
