if you didnt mid fiddling with the calibration on the Hisense and watched mostly HD/UHD content
You could throw in the 5 year Geek Squad warranty from Best Buy and still be under the Sony price
Sony $1300 w/5 year warranty
Hisense $1090 w/5 year warranty
For that $210 you are getting a high-end brand name vs a value brand. Sony also has some of the best/stable software where Hisense are known to be more glitchy/issues. Additionally, you did address quality of content, but if you watch anything but a good 4k signal, content such as cable, DVDs, Blu Ray, older movies, etc. the Sony's much superior processing will produce a considerably better picture.
Not to mention the Sony has a much more accurate picture, less artificially to try to artificially stand out.
"The Hisense U8/U8N and the Sony BRAVIA 7 QLED deliver a very different overall experience, so the best one depends on your room setup and personal preferences. If you're the type of person who likes to collect physical media and cares about creative intent, then the Sony is the way to go, as it delivers a far more accurate image that's true to the director's intent regarding brightness, processing, and overall accuracy. The Hisense has better reflection handling, so it's a better choice for a bright room or if you just like a punchier image and don't care as much about accuracy."

Not saying the Hisense is a bad TV for the money, but in my opinion, unless you are really watching your money, the Sony is well worth the $210 extra considering how much you are spending.

I think the Best Buy 5 year Geek squad warranty is better than the Allstate one that Costco offers..Addionally the Hisense U8 comes with a 2 year from the manufacturer, though I would personally buy the Best Buy 5 year one
if it was last years Sony X93L at this price I would agree with you on going with the Sony
I just think the Hisense has so much better contract and brightness that it creates another level of viewing experience
The Sony Bravia 7 doesnt have the wide angle filter..so it suffers like the Hisense does in that regard
As I said before, if you watch HD or UHD content and dont mind fiddling with the color on the Hisense..to me, this Sony would be a hard sell
I would feel the opposite if this was a Sony X93L though

But If I recall correctly there is not much difference among major TV brands in regard to reliability
I have seen plenty of Samsung and Sony owners gripe about failures online
I myself had a 6-year-old Sony Z9D die this year
As I said before..if this deal was the Sony X93L I would have a different opinion at this price point
The other thing that I would question is if the buyers in this price range are that fanatical about out of the box color accuracy?
I would suspect that the Hisense U8N superior black levels and brightness would be much more of a noticeable attribute
BUT...that is my opinion
