I don't know where you're getting the "no NPU" thing, think it's standard on the chip and it's advertised with this laptop.

All that said, this is a great deal. The usual "Windows on ARM" disclaimers, make sure you research what programs you'll specifically need, this isn't for everyone, blah blah blah. But for a good many users, this is a solid machine.

Yeah when drafting the post, I was using the online compare feature on Microcenter to figure out if there were any differences compared to the recent $799 deal. The tool said "N/A" under NPU. I took a deeper look at the description and have since removed that line of the post.

They don't price match between Black Friday and Christmas, they only price adjust when their own pricing drops post-sale.

MicroCenter has the base model of the latest ARM-based Microsoft Surface Laptop for the absolutely lowest price. Storage is an m.2 2230 and easily upgradeable so don't focus on storage too much. If you don't live near a MicroCenter price-match at Best Buy!

I got this for my wife at launch and paid a hefty premium. It was well worth it for her use case as she's on the road all day and needs long battery life, using mostly Chrome, Office and 1 program that runs flawlessly in emulation. She usually ends the day with over 70% battery. The build quality is premium and it has the softest closing lid action of any laptop I've used.

Seems like some adopters really swear by it but if price drops so fast, I'm afraid that it will not make enough money for a "season 2" so the support may not last as long as the hardware will last. I once had an expensive brand name IP camera turret (pan and tilt) decade and more ago. The thing works but software support was pulled so I took it to bestbuy after keeping it on a shelf for a decade, to recycle.

Thursday before Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving (November 21, 2024–December 2, 2024).

It's actually a little confusing the way it's worded. Black Friday week is listed as an exclusion. But also, for all of December, you get the "Holiday Price Match Guarantee", and that doesn't include matching competitors. It's not really clear whether you can still use the normal price match during the time that the holiday price match is in effect.
