Last week, I bought a M Defender2 from Costco for a total of $988, but it hasn't been installed yet. Sam's Club is offering it for $954. Should I cancel my Costco order and go with Sam's instead for 34$ difference? Worth it? Sam's I need to wait for ones more week for installation as stock not available now.

Just my recent price match experience with Discount tire:
1. call the customer service to do a price match to Sam's free installation. They sent a quote to me, so I could place the order online myself. Was able to stack BC and paypal 5% from chase
2. went to store for installation, the employee check the price of certificate (insurance) for me, and it is only $100ish for 4 tires (tire price at $200 each). Much cheaper than usual. Upon checking, I noticed that they applied the $80 instant discount of 4 tires on the certificate. (Usually you don't get further discount after price match)
3. After installation, I noticed that there's another $75 mail-in rebate for a sets of tires I bought. I submitted the rebate on-line and got approved in 2 days.

So I ended up get the same price in Discount Tire and got the certificate for ~$30. Very good deal for me.

How good are Sam's club installers? I'm very picky about who does work on my sports car. I'd rather not save money only to come pick it up with a scratched up rim.
Since you are picky, don't go to Sam's. You never know what kind of person you'll get, as Sam's simply looks for warm bodies to sell product. And they have a lot of strange policies that others don't.

Not a SC member (yet) so is it $70 and up to $150 or the $70 off is the "up to" price? Been stalking for a good deal on the Michelin CrossClimates
When I looked at ones that were "up to $180 off" the picture showed "$100 off with 4 tires" and then in cart the additional $80 of the $180 was for the free tire install (20 per tire).

Bought scorpion weatheractives at americas tire in Dec 5th. If I had known about this, would have waited 1 day and done a price match, Would have saved $50 and without waiting for a rebate, If the rebate doesnt come, thats an additional $150. In my area, America's tire is better run than Costco tire and Sams. I dont know how they do it but they are far more efficient. They replaced 4 tires, did 4 wheel alignment, installed new TPMS in less than 2 hours.

If you have USAA then go through their "perks" tab on their website. They have an affiliation with Goodyear and you can get 25% (30% in October usually) a set of tires. I just got the Goodyear WeatherReady 2 for my Mazda CX-5 and they are great tires. I ordered them at the end of October and with the discount and the rebate I ended with a set of 4 installed for $700 after tax. They are normally over $250 per tire.

which tire did you buy? is that, 1) online price match 2) instore certificate + $80 off 3) $75 mail in rate? that is super slick deal.

Walmart mysteriously canceled my order for the Goodyear Assurance tires they had for $85 on black Friday. I called to see why and to see if they would resell them to me since I didn't cancel the order l... No.

I wouldn't purchase another set of tires from Sam's Club anymore.
Buying tires and having them mounted are easy enough. You go online and you place the order. When the tires arrive at the store of your choice, they call you to make an appointment for you to come in and have them mounted.
After that? Good luck trying to call them to make an appointment for rotation, balancing, or repairs. They never pick up their phone and you always get routed to their 'national' tire service center who can't make appointment for you. You can't get online to make an appointment (like you could with Costco). The only option is for you to actually show up at the store and hope that they have an slot open for them to work on your tire(s) or to make an appointment to return another day. Just too much hassle.
This is my personal experience with Sam's Club in the Houston area, by the way. I always call the three Sam's Club near me (home and work) and none of them ever pick up their phone.
