This is not the Sonicare 4100 you are looking for. This version that comes with an USB charger is a shadow of the Sonicare 4100 from 3 years ago. This shrinkflation version's vibration is weak. You will get cleaner results using a manual toothbrush from Walmart's generic brand than this. This was discussed in a separate SD post a few days ago. I didn't believe what they talked about until I placed this new version next to the older 4100 side by side for comparison.

Just bought this recently for a few bucks more on the under $30 deal posted previously. My wife and I each have a basic Sonicare that we've used for probably 8 years but they're starting to show their age. The 4100 is a good replacement if you don't care about all the bells and whistles available on the more expensive models.

It has the quadpacer (mouth section) and smart timer (overall) like our old ones do, but it adds a pressure sensor which ours do not have. Some people mention this has a worse motor than the old 4100, but I didn't notice any difference vs our ancient Sonicares and ours do the job. Just be sure to take it out of "learning mode", where it ramps up intensity, if you are already a Sonicare user.

Finally, people will argue Oral-B or a manual brush get your teeth cleaner. They certainly can, but the main reason Sonicare gets recommended by dentists is for receding gums/gum health. They clean teeth well enough that I haven't had any problems for almost 10 years. Obviously you still need to floss though.

If you don't have an electric toothbrush this is a good brand and deal to use.

Yes, if you've never owned an electric toothbrush, this is the deal to act on. Low entry point on a tried and true toothbrush that most users love. Thanks for posting!

yeah people need to go visit r/shinkflation and search for the sonicare thread about the new 4100 series and how it's basically a trash 5 cent dc motor vs the older better style

For what its worth, every dentist and hygienist I have spoken to says get the oral-b over the sonicare. The oral b has physical spinning which does a much better job of removing stuff from teeth than the "sonic vibrations" of this one

any of the round ones. they spin back and forth thousands of times a minute. All the sonicare does is vibrate

my battery went to shit after about a year, lasts maybe 3 brushings per overnight charge (I brush in shower so don't leave it charging). I'm kind of torn because $25/year for toothbrush isn't that bad (especially considering 3 brush heads will run you ~$25+, so brush itself isn't even bulk of cost), but I'd like my electric toothbrushes to last longer than that.

This new model sucks compared to the old 4100.

Although it IS true that this is a smaller and thinner version than the original 4100 model, I actually like it better. The previous model was so strong that I got toothpaste mess all over. You're not suppose to brush that hard or it might damage your enamel and gums.

NOTE: The default setting (after charging) is low. Push the button again to get the high setting.

Outstanding deal. This should be on the SD front page.

This is probably the best toothbrush for most people. The extra bells & whistles on the more expensive models are not very useful and add complication.
Anyone who has used Sonicare brushes for a long time know that these essentially break down after a couple years use. So yes no bells and whistles, this is perfectly fine. I'm at the point where I generally replace mine after maybe 2-3 years of use due to gunk build up or malfunction.
