I have a bunch of kids toys that still take micro USB, but even with that, I am never buying any modern electronics device that uses micro USB. Such a turn off.
So what is wrong with Micro USB from charging point of view. Just asking to learn.

Just having to carry more cables or adapters to charge devices. It's an inconvenience that I was okay with say 5 years ago, but it's almost 2025 and I just can't justify adding gadgets to my collection that still have micro USB.

Another issue is that most new chargers I am buying come with only usb-c ports, and I don't have any cables that go from usb-c to micro USB.

It's a first world problem at best and not the biggest issue in my life, but if I have a choice, I am not buying micro USB gadgets. The same way as a lot of Apple consumers are moving away from lightening connectors.

One last thing that made me pass on this deal is that I may be somewhat okay with a micro USB connector on a super cheap/garbage quality gadget, but I just can't get myself to buy a Bose product with a usb-c.

This little speaker sounds great for its size, especially at low volume the bass is still audible. Have one for over five years, used almost every day and still going. In for another. Thank OP! The Flex is louder but heavier and less portable.

Not sure how this outdated speaker going for double its competitors' price is frontpage.

Guess SD'ers will buy anything that's heavily discounted from its original overpriced price and think it's a good deal, as long as a SD mod posts it on FP.

Do yourselves a favor and get a superior speaker in every aspect for more than half off of the sale price of this old Bose.

I've bought numerous Soundcore items in the past. I can vouch for their quality.

I have two of these I bought a long time ago on sale. Yes they have micro USB so I bought a splitter to charge them both simultaneously. The reason I have two is I'm able to run them in stereo mode by just pressing the buttons on the speaker. No need to use the sound link app. The sound quality is amazingly good.

If you're looking for something with the strap and USB-C, I've been using the TribitStormbox Micro 2 [amazon.com] on my bikes for a couple years, and it's been great. $50 today with coupon. Not the most amazing sound, but definitely good enough for bike riding.

Bose makes fine stuff, but definitely not worth the brand name premium. I normally pay a little less and get JBL, and Anker's Soundcore has come a long way in the last few years. If you're looking for a shower speaker, I personally prefer the JBL Flip since it's essentially the same shape/size as a shampoo bottle for easy placement.

I'll look past the micro-usb part to give it a shot. Very reasonable return window with Walmart. Ordered 2, might gift 1.

Nice Find!

It's a decent deal, but the SONY SRS-XB100 is a better speaker with significantly longer battery life than the BOSE.

I found one back in 2018 on the beach in San Francisco, and been using it A TON since then. Until the band stretched out (my bad for sure). It has one very unique feature that I didn't find anywhere else, and I love it for it. Even if it's "turned off", you can still go to your bluetooth devices and remotely turn it in. Because of the bluetooth low energy. Compare it with Sonos Roam that I was using for the past year, that is CONSTANTLY battery dead when I need because of the wifi, voice control and extra features, and cannot be used for voice conversations.
This Bose has incredible microphone quality for conversations while on a bicycle. I have a couple of micro usb cables inserted right by the garage door, where I keep bicycle and charge all the stuff from it: lights, old kindle, bose sound link mini 2, etc. I will get a newer version if it keeps all the functions. At this price just got two, hopefully not getting cancellations. Cheers

Released in 2017. Which is why it still using a micro usb. Low battery life compared to what's new currently on the market by like 50%. Sound quality is okay. App is outdated. You are probably better off with JBL. Double the battery life, USBC, faster charging, just as good sound quality, better app integration.

Not a 'bad' speaker but the only reason this is a deal is because it has the Bose brand name on the front of it. When you can get a Tribit Stormbox Mini 2 for a couple of dollars more or the brand new JBL Clip 5 on sale for $60 right now (after being around $50 or less for the last week or two), this is just not appealing to me at all. Micro USB alone is enough to stear clear for me (not everyone cares and I get that) but Bose is not synonymous with the best experience anymore. There is way too much competition but people don't like to research their options and think this is an amazing deal because they know the brand name and Bose likes to keep their MSRP blown out. I'm not saying it isn't a good sounding speaker. I'm just saying that there are better options that are less or within $10 of this price regularly.

Before the Bose fanboys jump all down my throat, just please understand that I'm no brand snob. I have owned and still own a ton of speakers by premium brands and off-brands alike. Some have been bad, some have been great (that goes for both categories). I don't know everything but I enjoy keeping up with these things to know enough and honestly don't care to debate this opinion. If you disagree, that's cool. You won't change my mind on it though so let's skip that part
