Tamping issues? Get a leveler and auto tamper. They have preset poundage you can set for the tamp. You basically want consistency every single time and to make minor adjustments.

You don't need a feature for it, but that would help!

I have this machine and made insane lattes for myself and family over the last 2 years. Absolutely love it. You make better coffee than most shops, outside of a few gem coffee shops (not Starbucks), but it has a learning curve.

This is a great deal especially if someone can't find in local Tjmax or homegoods for $500

I did the same thing for a week and a half. What helped me in the end was calling instead. They get random items delivered every day except Sundays. The day I got mine was the same day they had it delivered to the store.

A pretty solid deal since we're starting to dip into the pre-covid pricing. Though I'd get the Barista Express Impress instead of this. The Pro is better in almost every way on paper, but the semi-auto-tamping feature of the Impress can save you a lot of frustration especially if you're just starting out.

Consistency and quality of tamping is quite possibly the single most important thing in the science of espresso and is also the most difficult to master. Even a $3k machine with a $1k grinder will produce mediocre results if your tamping is all over the place, so it's really nice to have the feature that takes all the guesswork out.

It seems like everyone prefers Bambino or Touch over Pro.
But i like the looks on the Pro the most.

Yesterday I found one in Anaheim and got it for $450 after 10% discount with credit card sign up. It was a great day.

Found this at Marshalls for 499 and I absolutely love this machine .
Espresso, Hot Chocolate, and Tea this machine is amazing.
The grinder is really nice, there is also a portafilter topper for when grinding so it doesn't spill. The steam wand is truly amazing

Watch a couple of YouTube videos on this machine.

Make sure if you do get this that it has the new baratza burrs. The inner grinder will have 6 points instead of 5 in the old.

Macy's has this for $680 but you can get 12% cashback/MR points from a certain cashback site. Plus some AMEX cards have +3 MR points for Macys purchases.

Only you can get yourself to stop going in the end. But yes, absolutely, if you're going there for the drinks anyway. They don't compare to what this can churn out even on a bad day.

Fantastic beginner machine. I've owned one for 5 years and bought one for my parents. A lot of conflicting info in this thread as far as tamping etc.

I only have two pieces of advice: (1) buy freshly roasted beans. This will lead to drastically improved pulls. (2) Youtube how to dial in your machine. You'll need a basic kitchen scale ($10) and a little patience.
