Really surprising A24 attached to this one. There was never a point in time where this was going to be a quality movie.

my account got banned/closed for no apparent reason? i suspect because i only used it for free ticket offers like this, but that doesn't seem explicitly against the t&cs

FYI the Y2K movie is doing terrible at the box office, under 2 million for it's opening weekend with a budget of $15 million.

This movie is by Kyle Mooney, who if you know anything about is a comedian (from SNL) who operates almost exclusively in this retro/nostalgic, early 90s wavelength. His last film BRIGSBY BEAR (which I thought was excellent) centered around a show made during that period, and a guy who was sort of mentally "trapped" there - that film used the retro/nostalgia as part of the narrative framing. This film seems to use the retro/nostalgia to "re-create" an entire movie that would have been made in that era, or at least filtered through his own nostalgia. So not looking at the retro/nostalgia from a distance, but rather diving right in completely.

I have not seen this film, and all these negative comments might be because the movie is, in fact, terrible. And that's totally valid. But it's worth noting that Kyle Mooney's comedy is so particular and insular that if you are not really plugged into what he's trying to do, you might find it baffling. I would compare him to Tim & Eric, if you're at all familiar with their style. He's not nearly as surreal and over-the-top as they are, but his comedy is probably equally personal. If you don't "get it", you won't "get it".
Just worth having this context imo.

If you log into your Atom Tickets account I believe you can reschedule. BUT I have never tried this with tickets purchased with a free promo code so YMMV

In other discussions people who ordered similar free tickets but never used them got their accounts closed down. I guess if you can't make it to the movie one would cancel it within the ATOM tickets website before the show starts to avoid this outcome?

i mean i always went to the theater and printed them out just in case; i would think after that point they would no longer be able to tell anything? 🤐 just seems kind of lame, since i used to use them since the very beginning, especially when they had rewards, since they were the only ticketing service that let you choose to not use an a-list reservation, rather than having to do workarounds, but. oh well. the other main thing was t-mo tuesdays offers, which always required real money spend, so i'm not sure why they would ban me.

Depends on the theater and chain. At my main AMC you can print it at the kiosk but the downtown location there is kiosk so you have to have the box office employee scan it at the register versus using a Zebra. My Cinemark on the other prints out QR codes/ticket numbers at box office computer that is the ticket the podium.

I would print out the ticket atleast since Atom did stop me from making any purchases on my Atom account. I did get them to remove the block barely but I wouldn't risk it again especially since T-Mobile Tuesday uses Atom. I have printed tickets at the kiosk and exchanged it for a ticket of equal or more expense. I have used the $5 T-Mobile Tuesday codes to get XD Dbox tickets for movies I actually want to see in the format.
