For the older coffee, to get the same strength as newer stock, up to 25% more is needed per cup/batch. (Then no difference in flavor I can detect, YMMV.)
So to get the real cost, I'm adding that much to the deal price, which makes the real cost here $13.10, or $3.34/lb (again, YMMV).
But that's still a good deal lol so buying now.
I much prefer the lavazzas that pops up on sd so often.

As for the techno thing, this was originally cut for high heat percolators. You used every bit of the bean, and both sweet and bitter oils. That's where this stuff kicks you in the ass. They do have a 'bold and dark' espresso cut that would likely work better for a quick drip.
