I think if I use a bowl/container on my 'average sized kitchen scale' it would probably handle almost anything I weigh on it. Most packaged meats like whole pork tenderloins have weight printed on their package (at least in the U.S.) Storage wise, I think the smaller kind of have a good advantage too. I think most people that use kitchen scales generally use them to measure things like protein powder, bowls of protein/veggies, etc.

I have the one linked below, it's smaller, and not that big of a deal weighing stuff.

Only issue is if putting stuff on a larger plate, where I can't see the readout. Granted my bigger plates are at least 10" diameter. Most bowls are fine, as they have a tapered cross section (so you can see the readout).

Yeah, in that case you just put a can of beans or whatever (something to elevate the plate high enough to see the read out) on the scale and Tare it out. Ive used kitchen scales my whole adult life and they have all been roughly this size.

I wouldn't, it's too large, and precision is 1g, you probably want something that is small enough to fit under the portafilter with a cup on top for pulling shots, with 0.1g precision.

Edit: precision is actually 2.86g, complete no go for espresso.

It would seem that a scale this small, that the knob would get in the way of larger bowls, plates, etc. Granted I primarily use these types of scales for refilling 1lb propane tanks, but on the occasion that I use for something else, I could see the knob being in the way.
