TJ Maxx in actual stores has the Breville Barista Pro for $499.99! This is not a markdown or refurbished, but probably ymmv. It doesn't show up on their website.

Same, I had no issues registering mine. However, I think the reason why there are so many available at Marshalls and TJMaxx is their return policy. AFAIK, you cannot return open-box/used appliances. So maybe that's why there are so many available? I'm not going to lie, it was not easy to dial in. You really need to learn how to use it.
I didn't know that about their return policy, that makes sense. Thanks
Yes it's true that it's a bit of work to dial it in. Also, once the grinder breaks in you'll probably need to adjust it again like I am finding :p

I have a feeling a lot of these are the older units with the older grinder. If you can tell the manufacture date before opening, anything made in 2024 should have the newer baratza grinder. There are at least 3 versions that I know of. The oldest does not come with the dosing funnel. So if you don't see that on the box you know for sure it's an old unit. The newish ones come with one.The latest one has the dosing funnel + updated grinder. I honestly would recommend a separate grinder and just get the bambino plus but that's just me. I no longer use the built in grinder on mine. I use a DF64 gen 2 and it's much better than my old one.
Found one of these at HomeGoods and it has the newer Baratza grinder. Maybe it's YMMV but just wanted to share my experience.
Thanks! TJX is headquartered in Framingham, MA so there's a Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or HomeGoods every ten feet in the area. I hit four stores within an hour Saturday night and found two. In Norwell, MA a Damson Blue model and in Quincy, one in Stainless Steel. Wasn't sure which color I wanted so I grabbed both and the SO picked the silver one. I returned the blue one to the Homegoods in Westwood, MA so if anyone is looking for that color in the area, it's probably back on the shelf by now.
Now I'm working on 'dialing it in' as so many of the espresso-heads call it.
BTW - both were the newer models with the Baratza blades.
Finally found one at Homegoods in Los Angeles, but it seems like a return unit. It had coffee grounds and stains...
Found a Barista Express at Marshalls, had to return it because it was full of coffee grounds and was clearly used. Found a Barista Pro a day later at TJ Maxx and the same thing again. Fortunately, they took them back. It sucks as I've been wanting to get one, but I guess I'll just wait for the next sale as it's just my luck I found 2 returned units back to back.

Apparently they had this "sale" for a while now. Reddit post regarding this goes back more than 2 years ago. Maybe this is Breville's way to get rid of returned units, and some people are just lucky enough to find them in near new conditions.

Found one today in Florence, KY. Pro in black, manufactured in June 2024 and seems to be brand new, unused, all blue tape in place, no grounds or signs of use
