Decent price for an easily accessible holiday present. If you can wait, these 8bitdo retro keyboards (NES and Famicon versions) can pop up on woot for $60. I really want to see the new xbox version in person.
Edit: This deal includes the joystick which is a good addition for $10

Thanks! Had a $10 reward I had to use by this month. Been thinking of getting one of these for a bit. For some reason the link didn't open to the product page in the app like it normally does. Worked fine on a web browser.

FYI, for those of you that want an attached numpad, 8BitDo are actually releasing that soon.

My Mother-in-law chose this keyboard at MicroCenter after trying dozens. She told me that it feels much like an IBM keyboard from the 80's.

Right, because people who like retro gaming and wants a retro gaming keyboard totally needs a 10key
That's the thing, they do. 8bitdo responded by making a stand alone Bluetooth numberpad in the same styles and they came out with a new edition of the keyboard with it built in as well.

I'm sure there are people that will really like this board from the aesthetic alone, but paying $70 for a top-mount keyboard without backlighting of any kind (let alone rgb) is a tough sell in 2024.
If you just want a good keyboard, you can find drastically better TKL options for this or cheaper if you're willing to search for a bit.

What is anybody using the joystick for?

I like the look of the joystick. Is it analog? Would it be useful just for retro games? Could it do mouse pointer duties?

Yeah the lack of backlight is annoying early in the morning when I need to enter my pin. Should at the least have white backlighting.

What other options would you recommend? I recently bought an Ajazz AK820 and a Logitech MX Keys Mini Mechanical with brown switches in addition to the MX Keys Mini (regular membrane that I already own). Honestly, so far the MX Keys Mini (non-mechanical) feels the best.

To start, press ANY key.
This keyboard doesn't have an ANY key.
Guess I'll order a Tab.
No time for that. Computer finally started.
