Amazon bought woot in 2010, so you are still taking the same risk.

I took the woot risk myself, and its the later version. I use it almost daily.

Ok, this is not mu research but rather something another SDer pointed out few weeks ago. The newer model light is 500lm/1000lm rather than 250/500lm. Dewalt did not change the model number. You can view the newer one with higher lumens here … https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-5...t/50343690

There are different versions (types) I thought it was only type 1 and 2, but have also seen a type 12. So far the only difference I've see are the lumens, but I'm sure there are other differences, may the inner workings? I dunno.

FWIW, I bought this light for my dad for Christmas a couple weeks ago ($49.99) from the same Amazon page and the box says 1000/300 lumens, so I assume it's type 2 without opening it.

I've had this for years and really like it. It's the 20V Dewalt tool that gets the most use for me.

Only caveat, if you use smaller batteries it is really top heavy. Anything 5Ah or more and you should be fine.

Used it today to install longer screws in brackets of shelves within a deep pantry wall cabinet. Highest setting was too bright, hurt my eyes. This light is pretty incredible, it can illuminate most of my basement by itself. I could really see this light be awesome for camping. Solid purchase.
