Got this receiver for 750 from Adorama recently. Missed the 700 eBay deal, but with cashback it's essentially the same so no issues. This one is a monster. I have it paired with a pair of DT D15s (also got from Adorama) and an SVS sub and it's damn good. I previously was using a Denon s760h and the difference is pretty high. Also compared it back to back with Denon x3800h and I can't find any difference and hence the 3800 (more expensive) is going back. I am not an audio expert, simply stating what I like the most for my setup.

Your BBB argument is flawed. First of all it's nonsense (a lot of not kosher stuff behind those ratings), and if you do believe in it, then Electronics Expo is below Adorama as Electronics Expo is not even a BBB accredited vendor which going by the same logic means they don't pass the BBB standards [bbb.org].

None of the audio Adorama sells is gray goods.

Adorama as a retailer is fine and so are their deals being posted by staff. Who cares who posts the deal? A good deal is a good deal. If Electronics Expo ran as many promotions and they were a decent vendor [resellerratings.com], you'd see them on the front page more often.

Hey, I have a similar setup and would like to know if you were successful connecting Dirac live setup? Or anyone can help me here ? I see Error Du-1001 while connecting to Dirac live
No issues for me. Worked just fine. But not a big fan of the results. I felt it was a downgrade after the dirac setup and decided to turn it off. It completely flattened the LFE. Maybe it works better for much bigger setups or requires further fine tuning for better results. In my case, I got good results without Dirac.

Did you go through Dirac Bass Management?

Would highly recommend following this calibration process from this renowned AV Professional who worked directly with Dirac.

It's one of the best out there imo and covers common confusing issues and best tricks & tips.
He evens covers what each Dirac RC offers/does.

Keep in mind neither DL nor BM does any of their correction/optimizing/integration of your sub(s).
That is all within their DLBC portion.

They rely on the AVRs BM to calculate it/them into the setup.

I wish I could find out (from real people who had both) how this compares to the Yamaha A6A... I know different class of product, but these RZ50 deals keep tempting me.

I just got mine from the ebay deal and getting this error setting up Dirac through the app. It's not connecting through the PC app either. I tried everything suggested online. So either the server is down or there's some issue, I've opened a support ticket with Onkyo to get it figured out.

I have experience with both.
If this blind buy and you have no preference.

The biggest/main reason this is popular is because of Dirac.
Keep in mind you have to pay $300 to get Dirac's subwoofer RC(DLBC).

If that isn't a big interest then you get Yamaha quality/sound, more power, XLR for the fronts,no power limiting issue with 4 & 6ohm speakers.

Here is a full comparison.

That seems to be the typical reaction I have seen from people who have owned both...Most of the Denon AVR's are overpriced in my opinion
Though based on their latest parent company financials and their attempts to sell off the audio division, at a loss, things could change very soon

You could set up crossovers in Dirac for Denon/Marantz since last year. You could do the same for the 2021 PAC AVRs since end of Oct of this year.

When are you going to update your knowledge base?

I agree with you...Listening to people who actually own the product for a period of time makes a difference in my opinion

I will tell you that people that have owned this Onkyo RZ50 for several years now are very happy
Some that bought it introduction and paid the full MSRP in 2021

Here is the AVS forum link with literally hundreds of people who have actually owned it for a few years

Did you set up the speaker configuration, in the AVR, to reflect what your set up is?
That will give you an error message in Dirac if you don't

Yes as he stated crossovers with DLFB you have to, with DLBM it automatically does.

What other knowledge base are you talking about? 🤔

One of the first things he does mention in the video is that you will loose base and we'll have to manually tweak it according to our liking which is what I missed and hated the result. I guess I will give this another try soon enough. Thanks for the video link.

Had the same issue, reached out to Onkyo and Dirac. Dirac blamed onkyo servers and onkyo support agreed. Just fired mine up and the iOS app is now connecting. Give it a shot

No. The default crossover is 70 Hz in DLBM. You have to physically drag the crossover slider to a desired crossover.

The Dirac rep in AVS confirms the same:
