This is for the person looking for a pair of speakers for two channel listening.
These MA Golds are outstanding & would make great music listening setup imo.
They are pretty transparent sound and they do like power so you would need good clean power to drive them to their potential imo.
This is pretty specific but a great deal if you do fall under it.

Can confirm, have had mine for 8-9 years. They sound beautiful and I'm impressed EVERYTIME I listen to them.
Yet another vote for Ascend. Have the original Sierra towers and custom (lower-profile) Horizon center w/ the ribbon tweeter upgrade for over 10 years. Excellent value.
If you have never experienced a really good audio setup you just won't understand. Yes it can be expensive but every time you put on a really good recording, you close your eyes and listen, it feels like you are getting a private performance or you are transported to a front row seat at a Concert.
I have a set of Philharmonic Audio BMR HT Towers($4300 & Audioholics product of the year honorable mention) and some ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers ($230) and frankly they both sound excellent to me when combined with a subwoofer. I'm 55 with lousy ears I guess. The HT Towers look way better of course, and my wife couldn't stand the appearance of the ELACs.

I agree most haven't.
One overlooked reason, optimal implementation especially with room environment.
It plays such a high role with performance yet the one that gets ignored the most imo.
Buying these speakers is only one part of the equation, the smallest imo.
For me I've had the rare privilege to have recently listened to setup where the speakers disappeared!
Most people would think they were crazy expensive.
Imo they offer an extremely great value for the price!
As a person with a very "basic" ear I just have to ask... How good can these possibly be??
Here too. I picked up a pair of Polk Legend 100's open box a couple of weeks ago. They retail at $999.00
Sound is very detailed without being harsh or bright. I've owned and listened to alot of speakers and you would probably have to spend considerably more money on speakers that would sound noticeably better.
Most of this extra money is actually spent on fit and finish. Real wood veneer or gloss cabinets.

Not $1,900 good I am guessing. If you're an audio snob you may try to justify the price, but audio is subjective, just like television calibration. Sure, there is a standard for accuracy, but not everyone enjoys the status quo. It is not a one-size fits all type of thing. You may think a $300 pair of speakers sounds better than these and there is nothing wrong with that. I am sure a lot of audiophiles would scoff at that, but it is the truth.
A nice advantage to the Silvers, they are much easier to drive so you have much more versatility & less cost with them, without losing to much fidelity imo.
Upon saying that, if you're already setup to optimally use these.
These Golds at this price is a lot of performance value for the smaller price difference to the Silvers imo!
Keep in mind all the speakers mentioned are good, it's comes down to personal preference which would be the better choice.
Keep in mind with AMT tweeter you are going to get reduced vertical dispersion over traditional tweeters. If you're sitting in one place they are fine but if you have them in a room and you're like walking around and sometimes getting up and sitting down you will notice a differences in sound as the vertical angle from your ears to the speaker changes. I have Martin Logan motion 15s and that is where I am getting my personal experience from. You can also Google AMT vertical dispersion to learn more about this

To be fair this is true for any speaker not just AMT tweeter ones.

I too have a basic ear. After my wife got a Lexus which had a Mark Levinson sound system I started to understand what premium sounds really was. I started noticing detail in songs that I hadn't before. I wanted this for home too. I went from a $500 set of 10 year old Polks to $4000 in Kef speakers two weeks ago and I'm actually blown away. It really feels like your own private concert when you close your eyes when a good recording plays. Movies have blown me away as well. The detail and imaging you get from good speakers is mindblowing compared to basic speakers.

Kindly provide details on your setup, which KEFs, and the amp you use to drive them. I am thinking of busying KEF as well TIA

I may have over estimated how much I spent. I went with their entry level Q line since they're clearing them out. I went Q6 Meta, Q750 and Q150. Also upgraded to an Integra 3.4 to get more modern features from my old Pioneer SC-71. I may end up getting an amp like an emotiva a3 to push the fronts a little harder.

I need a pair of good speakers for my DAW (digital audio workstation) - if it were years ago I'd get some Yamaha NS-10, but those are long gone.

I would toss in MAs Silver series which are on sale also.
They definitely compete with all of them and to TBH they are more the sweet spot with MA especially for dual duty imo.
Example: smaller-medium layout and listening at average levels.
The 7g 200s for$1649 is a pretty good value imo.
