Quality wise, images from these are going to be more "Miss" than "Hit", and at close to $1 per shot, it adds up quickly!
If you can splurge for a little more -- Instax Mini 90, Mini 70, even the Mini 40.. any of those will give you much better results out-of-camera. There are also non-fuji models like the Lomo Instant Automat which has a quirky look (and a lot of the retro lens effects that you don't get with the Instax models) and those can be had for anywhere from $10 - $50 on ebay.
I say this because film is expensive.. the $50 you spend on this camera is nothing compared to the amount you would spend on film.
As for buying film cheap: A lot of retailers have bulk packs around this time.. 60 packs, 80 packs, 90 packs, 120 packs, etc.. and they can often go on sale much cheaper than the normal 20-packs. Also, check ebay: There is no 'fake' instax film, only Fujifilm makes it so you don't have to worry about knockoffs.
Expired instax typically lasts over 3 years, so some 2022 or 2023 expiration date film? half the price, same results
The big difference is that the Kodak is essentially a digital camera with a mini printer while these are actual optical lenses and instant film, like a Polaroid. Its a very different market/aesthetic despite both being "mini cameras that print"
Fuji makes a printer type of product as well (Instax Mini Link) which uses your smartphone to print photos onto instax film, so results look much better than the Instax Mini cameras.. but again it's a totally different kind of product.
