I had a crank pulley bolt that was torqued to oblivion and I couldn't move it with my mid torque Ridgid impact (that's supposed to have 650 ft lbs of breakaway torque), so I borrowed one of these and it ripped it out like it was nothing. And no, I didn't loosen it with the Ridgid. The Ridgid didn't budge the bolt.
The problem with hog ring is it's a bitch to insert impact socket when new & after used for a while, then hog ring is worn down to where impact socket is too loose & falls off.
Pin detent model doesn't have that problem of hard insert when new, as long as you don't align the socket hole with the detent button & if you want secure hold, then align the hole with the detent pin on the impact wrench.

In a lot of discussions on these impacts, most people seem to prefer the hog ring and I've never understood why. Almost every ratchet or impact I've ever owned has the detent pin and hog rings are a pain when you do have to use them.

Yaas!! Boo on hog rings. Probs easier to manufacturer hog rings than pin dentents in terms of costs. I slowly converted my hogs over to pins over the years. Much better!!
I bought a Dewalt with pin years ago and wish I got the hog ring. The pin is a bitch, sometimes I have to get a pick to release sockets.
If you have a socket with a hole for the detent pin, don't insert it so that the pin goes into the hole. Insert it any other way and it becomes much easier to remove and still fits snug. That's what I do and have never had a problem removing the socket.
