this is the new 3/4" model. it came out about 2 or 3 months ago. first time i've seen it on sale. do not buy this unless you're already invested in 3/4" sockets. the price of the tool is a drop in a bucket compare to what good quality sockets cost, and this thing destroys adapters

fasteners is based in california and they do not charge tax to most states. i bought this from NYC and saved $27 on tax on top of the sale price

i believe there is a $10 off promo code for new customers, but i don't know what it is. maybe someone passing through here can drop it in the comments

Might have to see about ordering one of these for my work. We have a lot of 3/4" rachets and sockets. We have a couple of the 1/2" Dewalts at work and I have a personal one at home. I really don't have a need for a 3/4" for home but I am always amazed how many times a year I use my big 1/2" impact for projects around the house.

I agree that this 3/4" exceeds the needs of nearly everyone. But, for any homeowner that has tried, and failed, to change the anode rod on their water heater...this tool will easily let you do that and without damaging your sockets. Considering how much it costs to replace water heaters, this tool will pay for itself several times over after changing your anode rod a couple times.

You could just buy the 1/2" version of this impact wrench, but I can attest that using the 1/2" for any real demanding applications results in damage to sockets. The 1/2" version is an awesome tool, but its torque kind of exceeds what 1/2" sockets can handle.

The $10 off code is newcustomer10 but it wouldn't let me use it on this item. Probably since it is already on sale.
Doesn't matter, I ordered one anyway 😕

Wouldnt a breaker bar have been safer on that than a high torque impact wrench?

3/4" is too big for the average homeowner. A 1/2" will do mostly everything around the house. I picked up a Bosch 3/4" impact wrench to remove the anode rod in a water heater, worked much better than a breaker bar. Mounted my TV to the wall with it as well this week, but nearly shredded the studs with those hex leg bolts - these tools are beasts!

Once you get to this point, you're going to need a 10 foot cheater on that breaker bar to get anywhere. On the anode rod in particular, you'd also need a very strong helper to keep the water heater from spinning. An impact wrench is the right tool for the job.

My entry level brushed Porter Cable 1/2" impact wrench has loosened over a dozen anode rods for myself and friends/family, as well as countless over-torqued lug nuts. So while I agree that folks could find utility in having one, I still think this 3/4 is severe overkill.

milwaukee made a bunch of defective insider ratchets (a $300 tool) and refuses to replace a bunch of them. after fighting their RMA department for 2 months, i just went to HD, bought a new one and returned my broken POS. we all have stories.

I could not bust my water heater anode rod free with a mid strength DeWalt 1/2" impact. I think your correct this would be perfect for anode rods. My water heater is very old so maybe a 1/2" would work on a newer heater.

Was it the high torque 1/2 or regular?

Probably cheaper to just get a weighted socket than a whole new impact wrench for one item that you change every decade.
