I claimed it yesterday and received a text message about $12.99 purchase. I'm now waiting to review my bill.

I used the support chat in Xfinity app to get a refund. It took about 20 minutes of back and forth though.

1 this is a repost
2 might be wise to wait until the issue gets ironed out

I would wait on this. I just spent over an hour with customer service trying to get the $12.99 back on three of my Comcast accounts. I asked them to escalate this issue and they are currently opening a ticket to fix the issue with their internal billing department for everyone but who knows when that will actually be fixed?? As someone else mentioned in a different thread, we'll probably still end up having to pay tax on the $12.99 "purchase", we'll only get the $12.99 back.

After redeeming I got a text saying thanks for the $0.00 purchase. They might have fixed it. We'll see.

Ordered on 12/10..
I have checked, and I can see that was charged $12.99 for the movie purchased, along with $0.78 for sales tax and $0.78 franchise fees.

I was also charged $12.99. And wasn't notified. Knowing how slimy Comcast/Xfinity is, this was probably done on purpose. Now I have to fight with them to correct their error.

I got an email today that reads:

Your coupon has been registered. On your next bill, you'll see a credit reflecting the coupon amount. Here's a breakdown of the details:

Coupon code: XXXXXXX

Xfinity account number: XXXXXX

Credit on my Xfinity bill: $12.99.

You'll be able to view this credit on your account within 24 hours.

Nice of them to tell us they're changing the way reward codes are handled. I'm sure their support people love being hammered for no reason. At least this got resolved. I just have to remember to check it.

if they they are going back to credit amounts then some of us will be on the hook for sales tax so it won't be 'free' anymore.

Just to chime in, a bit late: This happened to me, and I didn't realize it until now. I had an unexplained 12.99 credit applied to my previous month's bill and then the charge for The Polar Express just showed up on this month's bill. I spent about an hour with Comcast last night trying to sort it out, and I came back here to warn people to double-check their statements, only to find out that (taxes aside) they did try to fix their mistake.

Now, none of the four or five customer service people had ANY clue what was going on, and each of them needed the same information I had provided to all of the others, so it's not like the customer service is great, but at least they fixed the problem well in advance of my reaching out to them. I'm glad to not have to spend any more time arguing with them about this. Thanks for all the posters who were on top of this.

Sharing txns received on our bill:
12/10: $12.99 one time charge
12/13: -$12.99 xfinity coupon credit

Did not have to contact support to get the credit
However $1.32 sales tax was not credited back
Going to try to contact support...

UPDATE: 10 minutes of trying to contact someone via Xfinity Assistant results in this. So frustrating!

"Sorry, something went wrong and I can't connect you with an agent right now. Do you want to schedule a callback?"
After choosing: Schedule a call
"Hmmm, it looks like something went wrong with your request. Please try again later, or ask the Xfinity Assistant a question."

UPDATE 2: Had to call in to get the sales tax credited - no problems after calling in.
