I'm not going to bite but worth to say there's a 10% coupon on the discounted price as of now too.

Actually no, it is stupid Amazon. They have a BLADE length maximum in NY for pocket knives of 4 inches (I know it's ridiculous). I believe this is being misinterpreted by the Amazon AI system and it is disqualifying any knife with an overall length of more than 4 inches. This one comes in at 4.1 inches but the blade length is only 3 inches so should be perfectly fine to ship to Chairman Hochul's state.

The 4 inch rule is a NYC ordinance. Doesn't apply to the state as a whole. It is often misinterpreted. Also, this is assisted opening some companies think "switchblade" (which it is not). A second reason Amazon doesn't ship to NY. When they rule only be concerns the 5 boroughs! They lose a lot of sales this way.

I have this knife, got it for $15 in 2015 from Amazon (not meaning to imply today's price isn't a good deal for 2024, $15 was indeed SD frontpage material in '15).
I like the blade a lot but the handle is hard and textured plastic and pretty uncomfortable for me. It is substantial though. The clip broke off a few years ago, so now I don't carry it on me but use it for various things at the office.

Same here, glad Amazon remembers when I bought it, now to find it, not my EDC for sure.

I bought this knife a few years ago. The steel and speed assist are nice for the budget, but the handle/scales are a little weird/cheap feeling as someone else mentioned. I get that plastic scales are normal at this price, but even in this price range some of Kershaw's other knives are a better choice.

Personally I'm not a fan of this model. The scales are hollow plastic and it feels really cheap. If my budget was under $20 I would probably go with the Orange Walmart Ozark Trails knife in D2 steel that's been so popular the past few months or look at what Petrified fish Knives is offering. They usually have a few options in D2 for around this price point.

I buy this knife every time it's on sale. It's the best low cost (no worries if abused or lost) bang for the buck out there. IDEAL daily carry.

Thanks OP!

No, it's a state law.
Q: What Size Knife Is Legal to Carry in New York?
A: New York law prohibits anyone from carrying a knife with a four-inch or longer blade. If you intend to carry a knife on your person for any reason, you must ensure the blade is shorter than four inches. Suppose police discover it, or you are reported for carrying the knife visibly, and it is discovered to have a blade four inches or longer. In that case, you could face significant criminal penalties.

btw Knifecenter has free shipping with code SANTA right now, and there's a fairly wide Kershaw selection in the $15-25 range. Don't know about their shipping to NY and their price on this model isn't as low but you don't need Prime or a $35 minimum.
