Just a tough sell when the similarly spec'd OLEDs were going for $400.

This sentence lacks good context. Are you saying competitors?

I use the motto "buy nice or buy twice" and so far high-end Samsung is the only thing that has satisfied me for my electronics needs across the board = higher price in my mind.

I think it is just sticker shock which is why I've heavily reduced my discretionary spending since 2020. This is about $420 in pre-inflation dollars in my opinion, which I think most people would pay. Then your 20% cheaper monitor (Asus, Acer, MSI) would be about $330 - and that feels right.

How's this compared to the G7 or G8 models? Close to pulling the trigger...

I'm having a hard time finding any 27" OLED for <$500 at the moment.

To me that makes this deal attractive then, right?

For me, I'm established. I don't HAVE to buy anything because most stuff was fairly new pre-inflation.

But this is not highway robbery by any means especially when you consider that many folks don't even get the EPP/EDU discount.

If you can afford this, the price is just a sign of the times and a lesson to keep your property, gear, self in good working order at all times.
