For music, yes, especially if you get two and make a stereo pair.

For surrounds, I think the Era 300s are a better choice because of their added channels, including up-firing Atmos drivers.
The Five is still their best speaker. Good find
I have both. The sonos is noticeably boomier for bass and has much better clarity. The upgrade is worth it in my opinion.

Nice - wish I could combine that with my 30% trade-in credit from original Play:5, but that's only on new, regularly-priced items, if I'm reading this correctly.

Thanks OP! I've hesitated to use my last 30% upgrade certificate on a Five. With this refurb deal, I didn't have to, and I got an even lower price than new-30%.

In for 2, thanks. Great deal. Hope I don't run into the app issues, but I typically just use Airplay and Home Assistant to control my Sonos system.

I used to have. Play 5. Loved it and regretted selling it. Is this any different from that one?

Depends which one you had. It's significantly better than the Play:5 Gen 1. It's functionally identical to the Play:5 Gen 2.

Any opinions on how these would compare to either Paradigm PW600s (current) or the KEF LS50 Wireless II? Am looking for the best possible (and affordable) for wireless stereo powered speakers for music.

I think these are the best possible and affordable wireless speakers without the need for a subwoofer because of the sealed cabinets.

Anyone have this and a Google Home Max? Is the sound quality difference significant? I currently have a Google Home Max, I like it, but I'm open to replacing it with something better. I'm not a fan of the Sonos app, and you can't cast YouTube Music directly from its app since Sonos and Google have been annoyingly feuding for years. (C'mon Google, implement the damn feature.) Lack of Bluetooth also is unfortunate. But if the sound quality difference is significant, it may be worth me overlooking those flaws.

Anyone have experience with both speakers?
