EA released the CNC, red alert, and tiberium win 95 versions a while ago as free downloads. You can download and play them from here https://cncnet.org/command-and-conquer

You can also combine the downloads or the bundle from steam with https://www.openra.net/ to get some modernization of the games and better Linux compatiblity.

been a minute since i played this game or on steam. can i run multiple instances of this at the same time.... as in me and my kids for family strategy games together ? or gonna need an account/license for all 6 computers...

Since the games have family sharing, you can share the game to 6 family members but you can't all play at the same time unless you purchase multiple copies.

FYI, you may already have the "Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection" in your library from Humble Choice. Some may prefer the originals, but collection comes with Command & Conquer and Red Alert, remastered with expansions.
