EA released the CNC, red alert, and tiberium win 95 versions a while ago as free downloads. You can download and play them from here https://cncnet.org/command-and-conquer

You can also combine the downloads or the bundle from steam with https://www.openra.net/ to get some modernization of the games and better Linux compatiblity.

Thanks. Being one of the developers on Generals, any fan of that or Zero hour gets a rep in my book!

$6 / person is pretty cheap considering the potential of hundreds of hours of gameplay you could get out of this.
PlateUp! is a fun cooking game that allowed me to invite someone who didn't own the game for multiplayer in Steam. One copy, multiple people playing. You should be looking at local co-op as well.

Serious question. Haven't played C&C in many years. Why does this game get essentially universal hate? I haven't really done much research. Just wanted to know your opinion.

I think this would just end up sitting in your library. Gameplay is too archaic.
Back in the day in the 90's, this was the go-to-game to be playing at the time, because nothing else like it existed in the palm of your hand, but now you have so many other choices for your instant gratification and dopamine hit needs that all this crap has severely altered the average player's attention span to a goldfish. It's like no one goes back to play those handheld 90's Tiger games and are considered torture methods in prisons.

I will always upvote C&C, especially at this price. Fantastic game, one of the best RTS's of all time! Id recommend jumping straight into Red Alert 2 or Generals

So, any thoughts on this vs the Remastered Collection that is $1.99 on Steam? Which is the better buy?

I think they meant that it was so bad they treat it as not existing

This is better if you have to have Red Alert 2 and don't mind C&C/Red Alert (1) and its expansion packs not being remastered. I'd buy both if I didn't have both already.

If only they would include or open source C&C Sole Survivor. I loved that game. It was a sad day when they shut down those servers. 50x 1V1v…v1 style arena battle C&C was amazing mayhem.

these run at the original resolution correct? a bunch of 480p games or worse?
or have these been upres'd at least? Will they even work on modern pc's with high res monitors?
