YouTube Premium also comes with music streaming. After trying it out for a month, it was a no brainer at its price point and ended my Spotify subscription

You Tube has all new 'tools and methods and checks' to find out of if you really are 'new subscriber' or not.
Was hoping YouTube Premium would run a $99 a year annual special on BFriday or CyperM. Nope. Cant afford $140 a year.

If you only watch YouTube on a pc browser are there any extensions that take away the ads in the same way that paying for Premium would?

after paying for premium, every video defaults to a mediocre quality setting despite choosing preferred high quality. Can revanced lock in 2160p as a preference?

i tend not to use the music streaming that much ,once or twice a month. dont download at all.
one cord cutter program said you tube may in the future may offer a lower price you tube with no ads but no music or downloading price subscription. fine with me

I've noticed 2 things with Youtube this year. 1st, without premium the ads have gotten much worse, it is common to have a 30 second pre roll and then 1 minute into the video another 30- 60 second ad break, plus the various other ads. I suspect this is less to do with making more ad revenue and more to do with trying to increase the perceived value of premium. 2nd, this depends on what you watch, the signal to noise ratio of content to advertising pretending to be content/ad reads in video/pushing merch has gotten out of hand. Premium doesn't help with any of that and is more of a problem to me than the price of premium.

Despite this I don't think $140/year is horrible IF you use YT Music as well.
