Also, I know many people don't want cameras on in their houses while they are there. There is a privacy mode that you can turn on, but for us, we actually disconnect and box away most of the cameras inside except for when we are going away for multiple days. It takes about 15-20 minutes to hook up the 8-10 cameras in their pre-defined places and verify they are looking good. Because they are so cheap, I don't feel like this is wasting money. We also have cameras on 24/7 monitoring things like the cat food and in the garage.
The C120 cameras [amazon.com] are definitely better, use USB-C, and work outdoors. Unfortunately, these are not on any great sales (still good value at $25 after coupon though). I was hoping to pick up a couple to put in my attic and crawlspace.
I have all 2K cameras (C110 and C210), which are also on sale for great prices. In fact, there are additional cash back discounts of 20-25% if you are using an Amazon card to purchase and you can buy the C110s in a 4-pack, which adds more value. I was also offered a "No-Rush" discount of $1 on my 4-pack order. And lastly, since these are sold by Amazon, you can also use some previously identified credit card cash-back options (like Amex) if you have them available to you. Keep in mind that you can't get both the cash-back from the credit card and the 20-25% discount from the Amazon card.
Here are some deals I found:
C110 4 pack [amazon.com] (2K): $59 - $9 coupon - 25% Amazon card cash back = $37.5 (~$9.50/camera)
C110 2 pack [amazon.com] (2K): $36 - $7 coupon - 25% Amazon card cash back = $22.5 (~$12/camera)
C120 2 pack [amazon.com] (pan/tilt 2K): $42 - $7 - 20% Amazon card cash back = $28 (~$14/camera)
If you are looking at value POE outdoor surveillance cameras with similar features, take a look at Reolink cameras, which I have been using for years. I have not used the Tapo outdoor cameras at all, so I can't give any feedback about them.
My setup is Blue Iris running on a local Windows computer with an Intel i6.I'm not fully local, but have tested cutting off the internet to the cameras and then viewing them through Blue Iris and they work fine. The Blue Iris app is actually pretty polished as well and works better than other similar NVR apps. One issue I have had is controlling movement on the pan/title cameras, but I haven't dug into that too far. You could either connect in from outside using a VPN or setup a reverse proxy. Either of those should allow secure real-time remote viewing while not opening up the cameras to the internet directly.
The Hook Up channel on YouTube has done a number of videos on Blue Iris and secure network setup. These are a little old, but are still very relevant:

EDIT: Apologies, it's actually an additional 20% CB on top of the everyday 5% CB for Amazon Prime Visa holders.

I use frigate and it'd be great if the camera could provide a lower resolution sub-stream for motion detect and additionally the full resolution stream for continuous recording.
