It is only a gigabit ethernet port. There is plenty of bandwidth left.

in mind with these kind of ethernet hubs that some overhead ethernet speed is sacrificed for the other usb devices plugged in.

its the device itself that suffers, not the port

its on the newer hubs, if your laptop has displayport 1.4 and the hub supports it, the usb 3.0 part (which includes the gigabit ethernet) would have enough bandwidth even with a 4k 60hz monitor.

on hubs that only support DP 1.2 or laptops that only have 1.2 probably all the usb ports get degraded significantly IF you have a 60hz 4k monitor plugged in. so definitely depends. device itself that suffers, not the port.

thiis is probably one of the older hubs if they are clearancing it out . not even on the baseus page

again the problem isnt on the computer hardware side, but the hub side.

The display port is transferred over separate wires in usb-c DP alt mode. So it does not share bandwidth with the USB data part.

nope... hubs prioritize video.

if you are running 4k on that line, anything else on it too suffers

If you're concerned about Ethernet speed, this 2.5 Gbps hub gets full multi gigabit speed even with 4k 60Hz HDMI connected.

Don't these hubs usually go for around $15? Is there something special about this that makes it worth $20?

Its got a "screen-off" button.
In seriousness, probably the USB3.2 support.

For a sec I thought it meant 10Gbit Ethernet. I would've hopped on for that speed

I have! Seems to be working just fine. It charges, it'll send a 4K HDR signal to the TV, and controllers and flash drives I've plugged into the USB have worked too. Haven't tried ethernet with Steam Deck though.

Just grabbed one. Looks like a great utility to throw in your bag for presenting and/or attending conferences. Not intending for long-term use, this looks like a solid deal on a travel accessory.
