You should take a picture of her next time and then print it when this deal comes up again
One female employee at the CVS I go to becomes disappointed and gives me a mean look at the checkout.

Ha ha! I love that idea. One woman at Walgreens actually called me a miser because I don't buy anything.
I talk to my Walgreens/CVS people - remember they don't make much working there - I tell them if they're allowed, they have my permission to print any of my pictures for themselves. I'm a good photographer, a lot of wildlife.

When I'm there and a print is so-so for my taste, I offer it to whomever is helping me check out.

Just be nice everyone. I get a lot of freebies (thanks to the OP big time!) that I print for my personal art and for all the ones I give to people. I added a moon shot if I can post it here. Of course, if you like it, feel free to print it!

If you buy a real photo printer and real ink you will quickly discover that you can't print an 8x10 for 60 cents of any reasonable quality.
That's why Costco was so incredible!

$5 for an 8x10…. Costco used to single-handedly keep prices reasonable for the entire photo industry. I think it used to cost 13 cents for a 4x6 and maybe 60 cents for an 8x10. Ever since Costco closed down their photo division, prices have become ridiculous.
I think prices have always been too high at anyway but Costco & Sam's Club. I don't know if Walmart ever charged photo prices as low as their Sam's Club division.

Same. Local CVS doesn't offer it, same for many pickup in store
Same for me… The store locator can't even find my store, which is less than a block from my house!

Nah, Red River showed a cost of $0.88 per 8x10 with a pro 100. That was with chromalife 100+ ink in tiny, expensive carts at msrp. I could print for less on my z3200 even using archival inks and paper with some deal hunting.

Do only certain CVS stores do printing? I cannot find one in a one hour radius that will do this photo.

Without shopping for extreme discounts, I calculate about .42 cents for some decent photo paper having to buy in 100 sheet bulk plus the printer cartirdge ($115 and having to be aroudn .43 cents a print - that assumed 267 8x10 prints on a single cartritage on a Pro 100. I happen to own a Pro 100 and no way is it doing 267 8x10 prints on a single pack. (I also own higher end epson printers, Just happen to have a Pro 100 thanks to deal with rebates they ran that were cheaper than the ink. This also assumes zero misprints or waste.

Of course it can be done in slick deals fashion, but lets be honest - getting quality prints at that price not in real bulk is not easy - as this also doesn't factor in the cost of the printer, electricity, etc.

(and the poster also mentioned 60 cents not 88 cents)
