I'll add my 2 cents, which is if you really need a hood then what you really need is a warm hat. So I prefer without hoods and then put a hat one on days that you need the head covered. The hood also adds bulk if you're fighting for hanging space once you take it off

I just received this today and the jacket has no down. It's a very light jacket and looks like the picture but deflated.
