Etsy used to be for the hand crafter, but they're squeezing out the little guy by charging exorbitant fees, punishing sellers for not offering things like free or heavily discounted shipping (after also taking a percentage of the shipping cost in fees), and allowing cheap factory made chinese goods to flood their listings and drown out the real makers. I will never buy on Etsy due to this. It sucks that individual makers get the shaft, but I won't support Etsy's profit first business model while riding high on the backs of makers that made it a thing in the first place.

Haven't been on Etsy in a long time. I see why they are hurting, torrent of cheap tacky Temu garbage. Thought it was supposed to be hand made crafts?

Have you found any sort of replacement? I used to love exploring Etsy and have several heirloom-grade items I bought ~10 years ago. I've bookmarked the individual sites of many worthwhile small shops, but the idea of a marketplace to aid in discovery is still very appealing.

Companies that can't see themselves making money steadily over long term don't last. It's stupid of them to try and maximize their revenue over longevity. They probably expand too fast with too many unnecessary oversalaried people.

It's further down on the screen in the app. In order, I see:
- Apply shop coupon code
- Mark order as a gift
- Shipping option
--> Button to check out from shop

- Apply Etsy coupon code (choose this one)
- Subtotal
- Shop discount
- Shipping
- Estimated total

I got Steam Deck Comfort Grip and Steam Deck Cord Keeper/Portable Stand for $35 incl Tax and shipping and using the %30 discount (I had to put in email first in the website then the coupon code activates and can be used in the app).

There's lot of great vintage homegoods on Etsy. I do wish that they would find all of the Temu and Aliexpress vendors and ban them for once and for all. Nevertheless, there's lots of great stuff including homemade to be found there.
