I need NVMe 4TB or 3TB SSD, do you guys think deals might pop up now till New Years? or should I pull the trigger on the 990 4TB for 320 bucks on amazon?
I am looking for a reliable storage option. Speed is the least concern but most important is reliability. which SSD will provide it in most cost effective way
P.S. I know the most reliable option is multiple storage plus cloud. But I am asking for a reliable SSD here

This is reliable, but that doesn't matter if you're the 1/100000 with a dud right? Or if you get a less "reliable drive" and are the 1/50000 with a dud.
In other words, generally this is a reliable drive, personally, you're very unlucky.
According to some posts/reviews, this SSD is really slow, like 4-500mbps slow.
when used on an M Series Mac, it does go really slow at that speed. You have to use Thunderbolt specific drives on an M series Mac to get the full 1000mbp/s read and write.
Samsung SSD's only get full speed on PC's that have true 3.2 USB-C ports.

Yea I have a 4TB T9 purchased last Dec for 235 which is an absolute steal. Real world speeds I'm getting about 800 MB/s stable, sometimes peaking all the way up to 1GB/s. Extremely fast drive, very happy with it.
Its very weird because since that sale last winter, I've never seen that drive go on sale anywhere close to that again.

Cheapest I've seen for that drive was less than $200 last year, I think. It was available directly from Samsung through EPP or AAA membership.

I was wondering about the same thing on T7. I bought a 4TB T7 last year for $200 when it was on sale everywhere during the holidays. I would like to get another one but never saw it on sale again. Samsung claimed that T7 is almost twice as fast as T5.

While the price is good, I don't need an external SATA SSD. If it were NVME speed I might have bitten.

According to some random reddit post, people are saying the T7 outperforms the T9?
It also seems like the video editing / capturing community is the targeted user.
