I purchased this deal the last time it was available and ended up returning it. I found the treble a little too harsh from my ears, and the subwoofer was definitely underwhelming.

How does this bundle stack up against popular brands like Klipsch or Polk at a similar price?

Klipsch has its own sound that makes it hard to compare against other brands. Most people either love it or hate it.

This is pretty incredible value; going to be hard to beat.

Biggest downsides:
- HT enthusiasts often hate the shiny white finish on the D17s.
- HT enthusiasts may point out the the Dymension Series could possibly not be a true timbre match for the D17s.
- A 10" subwoofer is going to be underpowered in most situations (only reaches down to 28Hz).

For a small room these are going to sound better than the similarly priced Klipsch RP. These speakers are kind of small for bigger rooms. Really weak subwoofer and center IMO

How can I quantify whether my room is small or bigger?

At this price point it is competitive. Of course KEF, Martin Logan with the others at a higher price, typically would satisfy the more discerning listener.

You really need to listen to speakers before you buy. Only you can tell if you like the sound. Lots of people worry about the specs and frequencies but most people would be really surprised what they can actually hear. Take a simple hearing test online and it won't be exact but it will give you an idea of what is real and what is perceived. People worry about 19khz and can't even hear 14Khz

What amplifiers (<$1K) are better suited to drive these speakers at full capacity?

For under $1000... A pro amp will give you the best bang for your buck. Pro amps generally start at around 300watts @ 8ohms and most are 2ohm stable. It will have plenty of power to drive just about any speakers you get in the future. The amp will last many years saving you even more money in the long run.

Crown and QSC make some very good sounding pro amps and some even have built in DSP with a digital display.

I recommend a 2 channel separate amp to drive the Front L/R speakers and let the AVR drive the surround speakers.

I can't help you with so called "audiophile" amps. Personally I think they're overpriced. I've been using pro amps for home audio for 20+ years.

Couldn't find any Spinorama data for this model but D15 is very neutral sounding speaker and i own D15 myself and had no issue with treble. I guess your setup was the issue? Also It's always recommended to use the room correction tool which is integrated in most of the receivers tho. https://www.audioholics.com/tower...demand-d15

I bought d15 last year and it's absolutely a bang for the buck. I've owned KEF Q150, R3, Polk R200 but D15 sounded the best for me. Very neutral, clear imaging and tight bass

Anyone know how good Adorama return policy is? If I open and try these for a couple weeks they will take them back if I decide I dont like them and they will cover shipping back? Thanks
