I would still get the base for $499 and spend the $245 difference on a reliable SSD and external enclosure. Granted an OWC 1M2 express is $100, leaving $145 for a 2TB SN850X or for an additional $100, on sale, a 4TB SN850X. an additional 256GB from apple or an additional 2TB for the same price? obvious decision IMHO. BTW, speeds are comparable.
