A YouTuber reviewed this from 6 months ago saying $100 is normal sale price.

If I recall correctly this performed average at best..... So $100 for an AXE router is not bad but also not great.Should be perfectly fine for a small home or apartment if you want max speeds.Anything larger and this routers middleing performance will start to show.

Nothing this year will be the $15-$20 linksys deals from Amazon/woot.

Unfortunately I debated on that $15-$20 Linksys deal and missed outFrown I wonder if they'll ever find more hidden in a corner somewhere Big Grin?

I'm looking to upgrade from an aging Netgear Nighthawk AC2100 (wifi 5) into a wifi 6 router. I'm looking at ASUS at this point and I'm seeing good things about the AX88U Pro. Any thoughts on that one or ASUS routers in general?

Agreed, I was able to get a couple and was hoping they would repeat the deal because I could use 2 more, but sadly it looks like that ship has sailed.

I used to buy linksys when they were owned by cisco and used to be really decent. I really like ASUS if you go mid range or higher. They have regular updates via ASUSWRT-Merlin and it keeps the original UI and just constantly update it for security etc. I have the AX86U and love it. Had an ac68u for almost 10 years and have that as a mesh node. That thing still gets WRT updates too. I know linksys routers do not seem to get updates often so I always tend to go ASUS and ASUSWRT-Merlin now or OPENWRT I know is good and does support some newer linksys models.

Thanks for the info. Do you have the regular AX86U or the Pro version?

No problem at all! And I have the non-pro version. I looked at both and at the time the price difference was almost $50. I don't need the VLANs and the slightly faster processor wasn't worth it from the reviews.

Asus routers in general are very good. They are not a bang for your buck router, they charge a premium because their firmware is very well thought out. You will pay a bit more but in general Asus is one of the best brands you can buy currently, mostly cause they got sued by the US government many many years ago after failing to support their products, and were told to shape up or ship out...

If you got the money Asus is a great choice, I would still wait on a sale price for something, or if your like me and feel daring pick up an amazon return for half the price in most cases.

Huge footprint. Takes up way too much room.
