From everything I've heard, the company was sold and now manufactured in China. Quality is now non-existent, with shoes falling apart in about 6 months.
It's the age old problem where companies get sold, the new company just uses the name with substandard manufacturing to milk as much out the brand recognition until there's nothing left. If you want an original Dr Martin quality, look at Solovair, manufactured on the original equipment in England. But it's going to cost you.
"The extra tough design, with a durable canvas and synthetic mixed materia!"
They may say Dr Martens and be sold by Dr Martens, but believe me, these are not Dr Martens.

anyone know about the sizing on these, especially the width? I wear a 12 wide normally, but the made in China stuff has me going to a size 13. Are these boots made in China? The originals were made in UK.

I wear a 12 Medium and most Dr. Martens run a bit large on me. I usually wear different sock in most of my Docs but, a few pair of the material versions (like this one) are more comfortable for me so might be too tight for you. I have seen these made in more than one country so it probably is a bit of a guessing game. I hope that is helpful.

$50 isn't too bad, but I have this pair and it's my least favorite of all my doc martens. I've worn it like 5 times and I just don't care for it like the other leather ones.

Are these any good? I bought a snow boot made by Nike 12 years ago. Barely put it to use over the years. The entire boot fell off this week when I put it on. Turns out the boot is glued together. The fake stitches around the boot were cosmetic only

I still have three old pairs of DM's from the 90s when I lived in England for a couple years. Walked everywhere in Europe. They are in great shape, considering I wore them daily. The crap they produce in China is so bad. It's just like Sorel when they left Canada for China. Everything falls apart. Thanks for the heads up on Solovair (made in England). I'll pay the premium for shoes/boots every time.

The company has never made their own shoes. They used to be made by Solovair in the UK but chose to move production to other factories in cheaper countries. Solovair still make the same shoes in England under their own brand name and they ship to the USA.

There is also gripfast. I have original docs 20 years old going strong. The non England boots are no where near the quality.

Don't they still sell Dr Martins made in England? These less expensive ones are produced all over, but I wouldn't expect it to come from the original factory.
