This deal is better than BB openbox deal, if you can find one at your local store.

Agreed. 8GB and 256Gb is doodoo.

I GUESS it could stand in for an AppleTV, but then, just get and AppleTv.
It works fine for most people. We have the M1 version and its quick and works good. Apple uses their memory differently than Windows systems with their M chips.

dead OOS

Ya - I've got a M2 MacBook Air with 24GB RAM and 512GB. I've actually ran out of memory for some tasks. I do memory intensive things (3D modeling, and whatnot.)

I know that's not everyone, but I know that 8GB is no longer good enough. Apple agrees - they've gone to 16GB min for their M4 series.

Hot take: if you don't know how much RAM you need, 8GB might just be sufficient for your needs. I still use my M1 Air w/ 8GB every day - it's gotten more usable with Chrome's new active tab suspension/management.

TU. $300 is good deal

but is it worth extra $200 for the new Mac Mini? I'm thinking it is...
