Franklin Guitars frequently sells "used-mint" Guitars and basses and this is an example. I have bought several of these and they are basically new in box, but without the warranty. I suspect these are purchased in bulk to help Fender or a distributor close out inventory.
These Made in Japan Aerodyne basses are wildly popolar and hold their value. I find them easy to play (they are short scale) and lightweight with great tone. Do you own research, but I bought one of these and am really happy about it.

They'll also likely hold their value at this price point but remember that Aerodynes were initially sold for $1300 and their prices have cratered since then. Even though these are amazing guitars and basses people just don't want them since they don't have that traditional pickguard look that's associated with Fender.
