This is a new launch and different form factor, Micro ATX and added two SATA III ports for adding higher capacity storage.

Did anyone else pick up one of these? I'm curious what others are seeing for thermals. I'm doing an experimental build with one, but thermals seem rough with the defaults - seeing a lot of hitting 90~95C with a 360mm AIO that is more than capable. Getting some pretty decent Cinebench 2024 scores though...

I picked one up, will do some testing tomorrow. Idle was relatively high, but I'm using an axp-53 in a 2u case. In my experience with 7950x desktop chips 90-95 was normal as the chip is made to boost until it hits a certain temp. I did notice the settings on this one are limited (pbo etc). Overall it seems like a nice setup with some caveats. I have a 3u case that can take a 360mm aio that I may swap to, but going to try with an axp67 cooler first

I'll save you the hassle since I've been messing with this for a while now. Set your Sustained PPT to 65000 (65W) and you can limit your max thermals to 90 or 95C (TJmax) in the BIOS. Liquid cooling is 100% overkill for this chip, especially a 360mm. the 90-95C is from the boost, and it did end up hitting 100C at times. Cinebench 2024 scores are around 1600-1650 multicore and around 113 best for single thread. These options in the BIOS I believe are under AMD PBS, if I recall correctly. After having messed with this one, I think I prefer the SE ITX boards.

Nice, thank you. Yeah I agree the itx seem to be a better deal. I have the itx barebones upstairs to mess with. Thanks for sharing your settings, my goal in the 2u setup was to max around 65w anyway so your settings sound perfect.

Yup, just slap a good 120mm fan on the ITX one. I had a lot of people recommend the Arctic P12 Max and they're only $10, so that's what I got. If you do decide to play around with undervolting (~1.1v) or messing with PBO and all core negative CO and stuff, let me know what you find out. For the build I did with the 360mm AIO, it just made 0 sense since it wasn't absorbing the extra heat

Yeah, your 65w + 90 limit worked perfectly for this slim machine. I did mess around with negative PBO curve (like I do with my desktop 7800x3d and 7950x), but didn't see results I liked. I'm going to try swapping the AXP67-120 for the 53-90 and seeing if I get any significant improvement, but this should work fine with a low profile cooler. It is interesting that the MATX version still only has one pcie slot, so the ITX definitely seems like a better value

Stupid question, but since you've been down this path and in case it helps others - for thermal paste on the M version, did you just apply a flat layer across the entire heat spreader before installing the cooler?

Any idea if MINISFORUM BD795i SE will accept this [newegg.com] memory (PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000)). MB seems to support DDR5 Dual channel (SODIMM Slots×2, up to 5200 MT/s, Max 96GB). I bought this during BF 2024 so stuck with it.

How will this for general usage/productivity. No gaming. Currently using 17 4790K DIY build.

I was planning to do mATX or ITX build with Ultra i7 265K from microcenter.
