Heck, by the time the Lenovo Legion Go Lite does arrive you'll likely be waiting on the Lenovo Legion Go Lite 2 or the Ally XYZ.
BTW, Legion Go Lite is "expected to launch no earlier than 2025 [videocardz.com]." Some articles even say "2025 or later."
I say enjoy life NOW, worst case you can sell this (or whatever) on eBay used for a large % of your original investment *if* the next best thing ever does poke its head around the corner.
The question is do you want a 90Hz OLED screen and $50 (in this case) in your pocket, or do you want better gaming performance and a 120Hz VRR IPS display.

I agree with the previous poster. If you don't have one already you can probably live a few months without one. The gen 2 handhelds will be significantly better than the first. The X is the stop gap solution and in my mind is not worth 700 dollars. This is a 500-600 dollar device max.
eBay is going to be the way to go if you want to sell something like this 2nd hand, you could honestly flip a lot of Best Buy open boxes for a slight profit if you were so inclined. Plus, zero chance of getting shot
Right now well taken care of ROG Ally's are selling for roughly 70-80% of their new sale price counterparts. You could have used the thing for a year and flip it when you want to upgrade. Hundreds of hours of gaming for just a few bucks a month 'rental.'
But what do I know, eBay seller since 2000 and I do stuff like this all time time.
Reminds me of the silliness that starts in Slick Deals around April / May, you start seeing the comment in every deal thread, "I'd wait to buy, black friday is just a few weeks away."

a few months...."2025 or later" for a product that might never come to fruition or could be massively delayed. See Steam Deck 2, PS6, Xbox (whatever), Switch 2, etc. Those are all just a fEw MoNtHs out.

There is a reason why Best Buy has a unlimited number of Open Box Allys always in stock. Nobody not even retailers can get rid of these things. What makes you think selling it on eBay will magically get you more money especially after fees?
I got a Ally Extreme for 350 over 7 months ago. Guy originally listed it for 500 and kept lowering it because nobody wanted it. I could have lowballed more but thought 350 was more than fair.
Also Lenovo is annoucing their Legion Go 2 in a few weeks. Why buy now? If they aren't releasing it until late Q2 or Q3, then by all means get this. It's not like the price of this Ally X will go any higher. But it if arrives sooner you just bought an obsolete product.
Only thing that says is buyer's remorse, lack of punishment for useless returns, and people not understanding something before buying.
Bye and enjoy that hypothetical handheld you'll theoretically buy when there isn't something else to be announced right around the corner. #Switch2

I am very happy with my $525 Legion Go which is Superior to this over price gadget and I also want to mention that I have the extreme model of this that I got from Best Buy and I also own a steam deck.
Switch 2 is also coming out early next year, multiple brands have already advertised cases and other accessories for it
They also have dozens of open box iPads and Mac's.....does that say the same thing? My local Raleigh NC BB has an entire CASE devoted just to open box Apple laptops, they are stacked one on top of the other. Little absurd to be honest.

Experience. I've bought / used / and flipped 5 laptops over the last 18 months, all but one for a profit. Also almost broke even on my OG Steam Deck when upgrading to the OLED, Switch OLED pulled a profit on being I sold off the bundled BF items I didn't want when buying new, etc. Not rocket science.
Let me guess...on FB Marketplace? Thanks for proving my point. That probably would have been $450+ on eBay at that point.
With logic like that you'll never buy anything....tomorrow is just a day away

Second, iPhone manufacturing and iPad outnumbers Allys probably 500 x1 so yeah there will always be returns for the device.
Third, we aren't even talking months only a few weeks to make a decision. If you can't wait a few weeks then you would have bought this already and all of this is moot and you won't be looking at this anyways. This is for the undecided buyer. My advice ironically would to buy this now since return policies are very good right now. If Legion 2 ends up being a banger you can just return within the window.
Anyways I'll leave it at that. You can have your opinion that's fair. I just see things differently.

However it was hampered by a few things. The D pad was terrible. The fans were so loud and whined it was hard to hear the audio that came from the terrible terrible fisher price speakers. I'm not even exaggerating the sound quality was laughably bad.
Armory Crate was much further ahead as well, Lenovo had a bad reputation of updates. Not sure what it's like now but back 5-6 months ago they were way behind on their driver updates. People were side loading AMD drivers.
Not to mention I paid 550 for my Lenovo return. 200 more than the Ally. Wasn't worth the price difference imo.
