This brings back memories how 10-15 years ago Staples frequently gave back 100% in rewards on Duracell batteries. I got more than I could use and put them in a box thinking I'm covered for years because most of the batteries had dates 5-10 years in the future. I used a few packages. Unfortunately well before the date printed on each sealed package, every package of Duracells leaked. I lost a couple dozen packages of unused batteries. I considered seeing if I could get replacements from Duracell even though I only paid tax for them. Instead I decided to take it as a lesson never to buy another Duracell battery. Later I bought some Kirkland batteries and they leaked. Then I found out they were Duracell so no more Kirklands either. By contrast I've had very few Energizers leak. Guess which brand I buy now?
So unless you use your Duracell batteries very quickly, I wouldn't bother.
Is the $10 off $30 the one that prints with receipt? Wondering if I can buy something cheap to get this coupon for the battery purchase...
IME recently it only consistently prints if you recycle something. I brought in some dead dry erase markers from work the other week and got one, so it doesn't need to be a big item like a computer. I've been getting 25% off ups coupons on regular receipts and ink recycling. YMMV
They leak if they are left alone or used passively. Won't leak if drained actively.
Storage - leaks - keep separately
Clocks/remotes - no - slow drain and will leak
Kids toys actively used - yes - they'll run out in a month
kids toys forgotten in corner - leaks - been burned couple times
everyday use speakers - yes
You can still get use out of them for heavy use items or remember to remove if not in use.
Thanks but issue is people buy enough batteries for the apocalypse! Only buy 8 pack or 16 pack and you will be fine!
Ive only had batteries leak in electronics i didnt use for over two years! By then it was my fault for keeping the piece of electronics and not donating it!
Flabbergasted to see the in-store prices are 50% higher than online. Haven't been into their store in a while. No wonder Staples been struggling. That's insane. If I earn rewards, I'm now going to be concerned they won't be in business long enough to spend them.
I was able to price match to Walmart. 2x 24 packs plus a 4 pack 2032s for $49.90. Used the $100 GC bought from giftcards.com w/ 10% off going from you-know-where for an additional 2.5% back.

Clearance section plus 10/30 coupons plus app coupons when you spend rewards.
I wouldn't buy any of the AAA or AA ones, too leaky. Their rechargeables used to be Japanese cells (white top) but are Chinese (black tops) now, and my experience is they are vastly subpar.
I did buy a bunch of 4-cell 2032 packages and price matched to Amazon. I go through these in AirTags, car remotes, glucose checkers and more, if I pretend Staples Rewards have dollar value then this is a better deal than the Costco 12-packs for me.

their clearance section is pathetic. the same items for years. with 30% off max on non saleable items.
