Thanks for posting this OP .. not a complaint especially at this price but looks like the 16 GB ram is soldered (so not upgradeable) and there's one SSD drive slot

My dad was needing to replace his laptop and he really wanted to buy from a store in his area, and the core 7 version (+$50) fit the bill nicely. I'll add I believe these have been this price for a while now. Great deal.
Price is good but worried about Lenovo Ideapad hinge issue.
A 2022 Ideapad hinge broke in less than 2 years of light use.
In contrast a 2014 HP is still going strong.
Was waiting for an OK Staples deal. Had a $500 gift card at Staples or OfficeMax. May not be the best at what I was looking for but a damn sight better than my 8 year old laptop.

This is an OK deal. Good price for a big screen if you want it. If I was going this big, I'd hold out for something with better IO (USB 4 or Thunderbolt) and a discrete GPU (3050) for a bit more money. They come buy now and then. Since you're already going big.

How good of a laptop would this be if I'm looking for a laptop that I wanted to mainly use excel for while having multiple tabs open in a browser for a small business? I'd use it for watching streaming services as well and maybe some light indie gaming from time to time. It has a backlight keybaord, at least 15" screen and has 10 key which is what I'm looking for in a laptop. 16 gigs of rams as well. I will be using this laptop mainly at home while I wait for my PC to be repaired by family member. I haven't used a laptop in a while and I'm not sure if this would be able hook up to my 34" UW alienware monitor.

Meaning 16". Like, at 16 or 17 you can get something thicker and heavier and get a rtx or something. May not realize 16" is the sweet spot. Same width and thickness as a 15 with only marginally more weight. Travels/carries like a 15, fits in messenger bags. I have a 16 and would hesitate to ever go smaller for everyday use. But it starts to stretch the idea of a thin, tiny light ultrabook.
