how are single quarts at 3.55 a better deal than a 5 Quart jug at 11 and change? uh?

Picking up 2 jugs of 5W-20 for my car. And yes... you can use truck and SUV oil in your passenger car as long as it is the same viscosity as what your car requires. Truck & SUV oil is basically the same, but has slightly different additives to reduce the breakdown of the oil in severe use, like towing.

If you do a quick search in Slickdeals, you will see that 10 quarts of Kirkland oil is $32 when they go on sale. They are currently not on sale.

I bought six 1 quart bottles at my local Advanced ($3.20 per quart) online and pickup in store. When I got home I checked date of manufacture. All six were manufactured in 2019 and API rating is SN (the latest is SP)! So, if you ok with expired oil (5 years from date of manufacture?) then go for it.

There is no way advance auto is sitting on 5 year old mobil 1 oil.
These are all common weights and not some niche oil.

That's what I was thinking. Also, they got so many different oils that say for this situation for that car that truck, European car or American it gets crazy And can become the feeling for people I think as long as it's the same velocity. Oil I think it's just fine. And I know some people chime in with technical advice but as long as it's as good or better I go for it.

I could only get one jug each at both the stores by me, but they each had multiple extra but they can't match the online price in store

I just watched a video on youtube about that. The Motor Oil Geek lab tested 4 different Mobil1 5W-20 oils: standard, high mileage, extended performance and truck and SUV. The additives are about the same, however base oils are a little different. Truck and SUV oil came out as a clear winner. The only negative thing about that oil is that your vehicle will have a slightly worse gas mileage. He also analyzed different Mobil1 0W-40. Highly recommended for gear heads.

Yeah, the wording of the original comment may be a little awkward, but it's pretty clearly stating that the single quarts are not as good of a price. Obviously, that info would mainly be aimed at those who can't score the better deal on the big jugs. I get that some people may easily misread it at a quick glance and that's certainly understandable. But the really funny part is people who come along trying to act superior and blast criticism at the comment when they're too ignorant to grasp what it actually says.
