Still pisses me off that they bailed on this game. The bones are so damn good and I've never played a game with a more intuitive flight system. The combat is fun and flashy once you learn the skills. Such a shame it wasn't fully supported because it abruptly hits a road block where you are overpowered and fighting the same 5 bosses over and over. The story could use some work for sure and I guess it was originally intended to be like destiny and have seasons. I've given up hope of Bioware ever touching the license again but damn I would love someone like Respawn to pick it up. Titanfall 2 was another diamond in the rough that didn't get it's recognition due.

I actually liked the game at least what a friend and I got into. Now this was probably us, but we could not for the life of us figure out how to get out of the basic missions. I think we were trying to do mainline stuff, but weren't unlocking it properly, idk, honestly was probably us. I wish it wasn't the games as a service model, I really liked the gameplay and most of it.

Logical advice: if you have any sort of backlog, do not buy the $2 game to get the dlc for free.

Well you can download the base game for free and play it with GPU or EA Play, one of which is needed to get this DLC free in the first place so 100% of downloaders do have access to play.

edit: and I was not defending, just informing that everyone can play it still. PC gamepass too but this DLC may only be for Xbox players.

Is this game even playable? I don't mind paying 2 or 3 bucks for it to poke around, but I was under the impression it didn't even function anymore.

Yes very much so. I wouldn't expect to find much on the way of matchmaking but you never know, and you absolutely can play solo or with friends as a premade group.

What pissed me off was this team was supposedly made up of any of the original mass effect team members but they were too ambitious and couldn't deliver on everything. Many of the mechanics that showed well (like flying) were going to be cut and some combat elements were. It was then bailed on because reception was bad....which, to be honest, the game needed another year of working on mechanics, content, and polish. Should have been a FTP so they could have time. But FTP wasn't the EA way but this could've been apex levels if they shifted.
In the end we got a terrible mass effect game (although combat was good once you got the hang of it) and a terrible squad based game. I'd much rather have ME:A be canned and Anthem given more time.

How do you see what games are coming up?

I don't see Anthem even mentioned on that main page linked in the OP. That page says to go to EA Play for more details but that just takes you to the main page, and I don't see anything posted there either.

It really is a lot of fun, it's just too shallow and you run out of stuff to do really fast. But the flying around and smashing into groups is some of the best fun I've had in a game. I played with my wife and a friend when it was released and don't regret the purchase because it is really fun.
