With the keyboard it is pretty heavy and I think it's 3.3lbs? (someone corrected it to 2.7lb) that's basically same as most ultrabooks 13-14" now.

If you need a keyboard - get a laptop

If you need a tablet, get an iPad

If you want to half Tablet and half Laptop but not great at both than this is a good device (but please do check the apps and run them all to be sure)

I have a Surface Pro 7. I have loved it for several years. It could be time to upgrade.

Ah thanks - I fixed my original post also just now.

I'd still get a laptop if you use it in that mode most of the time. The flex keyboard is crazy awkward on an actual laptop and machine can fall off!!
I've pro 7+, the flex keyboard has been fantastic, never falls off the magnet, the glass trackpad is one of the few track pads I've ever enjoyed using though I usually use a Bluetooth mouse.

Getting an iPad is not a substitute, because this is Windows. No windows is a deal breaker, that's why I didn't didn't consider a Galaxy tablet either. I prefer to stay with the same OS. I checked out the Ultrabooks and that looks like it has some positives, they're also touch screen and OLED and rather low weight, I've got a surface pro 7 plus but it only weighs 1.7 lb without the keyboard, 2.4 with. I'm not sure I'd want an ARM chip though, some people love it. I got mine on sale though, I really enjoyed it. Does everything a laptop does except gaming, and gaming laptops don't come at 1.7-2.4lbs. the Ultrabooks look interesting, I definitely wouldn't want to buy a surface pro at full price at full markup for storage, I bought a 2 TB mini M2 for $90 and installed it myself. I like the slim pen 2.

What are you doing on your TABLET that makes you need Windows?

Do you also have a Windows phone so you can keep the same OS?

Are you serious? I have had 20+ Windows PCs, laptops, and tablets over the past 30 years and would NEVER, EVER use an Apple computer. Even if you gave it to me. I had a Windows phone for 2 years, but my company switched to Samsung phones and never looked back.

I have an iPad Pro 12.9" and use OneNote to take notes. I have tried multiple other apps, but keep coming back to OneNote. The Windows version of OneNote has significantly more features and is one reason I would consider a Windows tablet. Additionally, being able to run the Windows version of other MS Office programs is a significant benefit for me.

This is just Surface RT all over again, a few native apps and hot mess ARM on Windows. 5th time the charm. Worth it for $400-800 and more fire sales

I least its forcing Intel to make ultra power efficient tablets and Ultrabook again under 1.5 to 2 lb

I've tried to like the surface. This one is an ARM that won't be compatible with everything a standard windows laptop can do.

It's both a laptop and a tablet but doesn't do either very well.

Is this based on first hand experience (do/did you own this Surface Pro) or are you just parroting something you read somewhere?

Concur. But the battery life for ANY Intel laptop pre ARM is atrocious. They're only now gaining parity with their current gen chips. Might want to hold off on the Surface Pro 12 (Intel) for this one to go on deep discount...

2.7 lbs with keyboard,

Personally, I really like this form factor even when using it as a laptop, though I may be in the minority. I love that the heat is moved away from my lap.
I'm 100% with you. Have had Surface Pro 3, 4, 7 (and bought a couple for family too) over the years. It's my favorite personal device - I want an ultra portable, that's just big enough (12"-ish screen, super thin), that's used as a laptop 90% of the time. It's plenty powerful for casual everyday use.

And I find myself using "tablet mode" i.e. just touchscreen with larger icons more than I'd expected. I don't necessarily need full blown "tablet apps", so this PC in a tablet form factor is just the perfect sweet spot for me. The detachable KB/cover (and that kickstand) is far far superior to any of Apple's iPad nonsense.

Bought and returned mine too. I use android apps on windows and that feature does not work on surface 11 (if that matters to anyone). Also agree with it being a little more bulky.
P.S. Android apps on Windows functionality is going away in 2025! You'll have to go back to the miserable old days of emulators when that happens, for now there appears to be no way around it.
