I just watched an extremely knowledgeable person on youtube last night regarding setting up an entire solar system. I'm going to re-watch his videos again (the one I watched was from 6 or 9 mo ago... and about 36 min long (or something like that). He goes over EVERYTHING, thoroughly, with regards to what you will need, gauge wire, and more importantly (for me) the WHY you need this or that.

His youtube name is: cityprepping

EDIT: the company i contract for blocks youtube on their network so I wasn't able to link when I posted.

Here is the link to the video:

When I build lifepo4 packs, my goal is $100/kwh. This beats that! Impressive

Nov sale got 2 plastic one and 2 metal one. Metal one believe to be the same as DC House 165Ah even its label said 150Ah.

Ran full capacity test twice against each version. Here are the result. Plastic version has capacity 149Ah vs metal version capacity as 161Ah with 33-14A little over 0.2c.

Plastic version seams to have worse voltage drifting above 3.45v and ends with single cell over voltage protection above 3.65v to cutoff charging while metal version has very low voltage deviation among 4 cells even after 3.5v and ends with 14.35v set in bench power supply w/o single cell over voltage. So myself liked metal version more than plastic version based on charge curve alone.

The only con for metal is the weight 9lb heavier than plastic one. Metal case also can be stacked provided you put one 1 inch thick wood in between due to the handle on the top

Watch Will's stuff, he is very in depth. The forums are a treasure, with experiences from around the globe. If you don't want to know why, only what, then skip it. He has tons of videos on different panels, systems, and builds.

Sorry, it will be a dumb question. If I get this one, can I use it with Starlnk while traveling? Checking to use a power source to start Starlink.

I just want to point out my ignorance in these things: for whatever reason, I was confusing Wh and AH. $170 for (about) 3000Wh? wowzors. Of course there's quite a few things to purchase and cobble together compared to those prebuilt "solar generators" but damn what a rabbit hole I've just dug myself into... I've spent the last two hours watching videos and reading about this stuff. The wife is not going to like me once the cart is full of stuff.

Welcome to the club. I started with a 200W solar panel kit with a crap controller and small 300W inverter from Home Depot.
Now it's 3 x 100AH batteries 2 x 200W panels a BougeRV MPPT 30A controller and a 2000W pure sine inverter.
I got lucky and paid about the same ($110 each) for my 3 batteries as the price of 2 of these just before black friday.

I too am looking to use a pair in series with a sump pump, fridge, fans, lamps, inc. In power outages. Planning to use with an inverter (e.g. 3000 watts). Seems way more efficient than running a gasoline generator for hours on end and silent. Will use a gas generator to recharge as needed
If you add 200W to 400W of solar panels a decent controller and get a sunny day or 2 you wouldn't be running the generator much.

Just got the 2 I ordered and they both report 165Ah. The 1 I ordered in November only had 150Ah
By "report", is that through the app or have you measured it with external equipment?

Here's the AI answer
https://www.batteriesplus.com/blo...%20battery.
Quote :
Battery bay location
The battery bay is usually located next to the engine, where the heat generated by the engine is not a good environment for a LiFePO4 battery.
Cranking battery
LiFePO4 batteries are not suitable for use as a cranking battery in a car, truck, RV, or boat. However, they can be used as a starting battery for motorcycles, jet skis, or ATVs.
Charging
Most vehicle charging systems are engineered for use with lead acid batteries, not lithium. If the battery shuts down if the BMS gets tripped, the excess power from the alternator could be too much for the vehicle's electronics to handle and could cause thousands of dollars in damage to computers, sensors and wiring.

Roughly how much more would one be that has a built in heater?
This is the only brand I personally know of that has a heater, $229, look around and see if there's any coupons (I'm on mobile)

A 2K watt inverter should run a keurig, it should only draw 1200-1500 watts.

I think this battery is rated at 120 amps max so you'd need to run two batteries, not just a higher capacity inverter. Maybe it was the battery BMS that was shutting down from overload and not the inverter, if the inverter is really capable of 2000w?

Use propane and AeroPress …. for a good 16oz cup of coffee.
I have a 550 watt hot plate that will get water to coffee making temp in just over 3min.

Something doesn't seem right there.
What can a 2000 watt inverter run [prostarsolar.net]?
