It was for Epic, not Steam. However, it appears that the deal was posted based on a leak that turned out to not be true

whats going on with this - there was a deal last night that civ vi would be free for 24 hours on steam, starting at 11 AM ET today. Deal was removed. Was it fake? $79 on steam

It's not a good deal comparatively. 5 bucks is the Steam low. In terms of "should I drop 10 bones on this?" it's an amazing deal.
