I have this card, it's a great card and very quiet, but I bought it for $520, 18 months ago, I feel it should be cheaper than this by now.
Hey, Nvidia is only worth $3 trillion. They gotta pinch every penny.
If you think 1000$ is a lot for a 4080 just wait to see 1200-1400 for a 5080 🤦

Not everyone is playing newer and/or AAA games. For those playing older games that may want to upgrade to 1440p, 4070 makes a lot of sense. Especially given the low 200w. People can often upgrade to this card without having to upgrade their PSU, saving them $. Comparable AMD cards have a much higher TDP and could force someone to have to spend the $ on a new PSU instead of being able to put it towards a monitor upgrade
Naw, that's a bad take.

$75 isnt a big discount. If someone hasnt bought a 4070 by now, just wait till CES to see what the 5070 will have.
Do you think once the 50xx drop, the 4070's will come down at least 10%?

I am still on a 2070S, and mostly play older games pre 2020, and honestly I am perfectly happy but I do want to upgrade so and I think the 4070S is the perfect GPU for me and my 1440 gaming

Why Nvidia gpu barely have any vram. Need 32g to run my LLMs
Funnily enough this is exactly why they don't give more VRAM. If people stop using cloud AI, there won't be enough demand to keep selling H100 cards to enterprise customers at $40k a pop

Should I wait for more 4080's to become available or just get this for my new PC build? Using a 7800x3D since I can't find any 9800's.
4080 costs double

I have no idea, esp with possible tariffs around the corner.

But I would rather wait to see what the 5070 looks like (supposedly at CES, Jan 7-10), before I put down $500 for a new GPU.

It won't, they're already pricing it above $2500.

So it's just so made up BS and not an officially announced MSRP or a rumored MSRP
Why do you waste our time with your liberal BS?

I bought this card in November from Newegg for $489 with a $15 DoorDash gift card no rebates. Also got 15% ($73.5) cashback.

Anyone have thoughts on putting this into a machine with an i7-4790k? I game in 1440. I would be upgrading from a 2080.

You'll probably experience bottleneck and should think about upgrading CPU soon. You're at about 10 years old now but would need a new Mobo and RAM, as it will likely be switching from DD3? to DDR5.

I stumbled upon this site yesterday as I'm also looking to upgrade my 1060 to a 4000 or 5000 series card, but I'm currently running a 9th gen intel CPU (I ONLY upgraded 5 years ago...). I will also probably experience some bottlenecking but I'm sure regardless any new card will do better than my 1060 lol.
