I have this card, it's a great card and very quiet, but I bought it for $520, 18 months ago, I feel it should be cheaper than this by now.
Hey, Nvidia is only worth $3 trillion. They gotta pinch every penny.
If you think 1000$ is a lot for a 4080 just wait to see 1200-1400 for a 5080 🤦

LMFAO, you know nothing about video card pricing and inventory then.
$75 isnt a big discount. If someone hasnt bought a 4070 by now, just wait till CES to see what the 5070 will have.

The fact that this card plays every game well at 2k will keep it in this price range for a LONG time

I currently have a 3070. Is this a worthwhile upgrade? Biggest difference I see is 8GB vs 12GB.

Is there any card with a good value of VRAM for the price? I have been looking for a workhorse but everything's expensive
You need a lot of VRAM for LLMs? The rtx 4060 ti 16 GB variant can be found for $400 to $450 each. You can also find a used 3090 24GB for around $750 on ebay. If you need it for gaming, AMD has several cards with 16 to 24GB of VRAM. Although you really don't need more than 12GB at the moment, especially if you game at 1080p or 1440p.

I have the same, I'd hold off a bit. I'm playing Stalker 2, which after 3 patches is now running pretty well on the 3070 at 1440p. I suspect there's still issues with the game rather than my 8Gb of vram. It was unplayable on release due to memory leaks.

I saw a Gigabyte Aero 4070 TI at Microcenter for $574.99 a couple months ago. This definitely isn't a deal for a non-super 4070 IMO. At this price point I would go AMD or just wait a month.

The new Intel B580 just came out and it's great at half the price, AMD and Nvidia are about to launch a new line of cards, and this isn't even the Super variant. This is maybe the worst possible time to buy a base 4070.

Tell this to Indiana Jones in 4k where I have 120 FPS on high textures and 9fps on ultra with 12gb ram. 16gig is minimum.
