The most expensive game I purchased lately was Robocop at $12.50. That was an expensive purchase for me, but worth it.

There's also tons of humble bundles and indie bundles etc where you pay like $1-$5 for a half dozen games so still basically free but you end up with all the games in the bundle not just the 2 you wanted.
I'm pretty selective, still have hundreds of games, and I think my year end review showed I had played 6 games in the entire past year and 2 of the 6 were short term pre-release tests or free week trial so really I only played Planetside 2, The Finals, Once Human, and Gwent in the past year despite having hundreds of games.

Initially you start collecting them, thinking 'what if you are in the mood for a specific genre', so you redeem a freebie. But then eventually you realize it's just clutter in your digital library, and it's just visual noise. I barely get time to play games I actually purchased, let alone those hits in the subscription services that I'm actually interested in. The freebies have no chance, unless it's majorly known hit, or a AAA title.
If you account for all the games in the subscription catalog, the backlog situation becomes even more extreme. I got the three year $15 digital conversion for gamepass. That's been an excellent service but I didn't get that much use out of it as I thought. It was maybe worth it at the $50 base game pass +$15 conversion. But once my 3 year subscription expires this summer I'm not going to renew; just because of how little time I get to play games; even though it has been an excellent service.
I stupidly bought 4 years of PlayStation subscription when they had announced that all the old PS streaming accounts (I forget the name of the service) will be upgraded to extremely tier. That's was $80 a year. I thought I'm getting a deal and fell for it. One of the worst gaming purchase decisions I've made. Now 2 and 1/2 years have passed and I barely used that service.

As for this game, it's actually a lot of fun and definitely worth adding to the library. I've been playing on PS plus but I do plan on letting that expire and lean more into pc gaming since they hand out so many free games and even AAA games drop within the first year or two of release.
